He jams with the regular sextet (which included trumpeter  Rolf Ericson, altoist  Bud Shank,  Bob Cooper on tenor and drummer  Max Roach) on two numbers and has "'Round Midnight" as his feature.  Max Roach  takes "Drum Conversation" unaccompanied and trumpeter  Chet Baker  plays "At Last" with pianist  Russ Freeman. The recording quality is merely okay but the viable and occasionally exciting historical music makes this a set worth picking up.

Also, the performance occurred during the filming of a currently unreleased documentary entitled San Fermin: No Promises, which provides a glimpse into the five-year history of critically-acclaimed indie rock band San Fermin. The piece details the band's rise from its classical music underpinnings to a touring enterprise and perennial festival performer. Shown through the lens of sold-out shows on the east and west coast, everyday life in New York City, and studio recording and rehearsal, the film unwraps the relationships that have transformed a grandiose, logistically impractical endeavor from bandleader Ellis Ludwig-Leone into a unique community of musicians and friends. As the journey unfolds, this community is tested by the departure of its lead singer as they begin work on a new album. The show at The Fillmore was the last for the band's lead singer. The documentary will be released in conjunction with the live album and a digital or physical copy of the documentary will be included in the vinyl package. -

Shakti era un grupo que tocaba una novedosa música de fusión acústica que combinaba música india con elementos de jazz; fue quizás el primer practicante del género musical world fusion. Su miembro principal fue el guitarrista inglés John McLaughlin, pero también contó con el violinista indio L. Shankar. También incluyó a Zakir Hussain (en tabla), y R. Raghavan (en Mridangam) y T. H. 'Vikku' Vinayakram (en Ghatam). Además de fusionar la música occidental e india, Shakti también representó una fusión de las tradiciones musicales hindustani y carnática, ya que Hussain es del norte, pero los otros miembros indios son del sur. FLAMING LIPS - SOFT BULLETIN LIVE AT RED FLAMING LIPS - SOFT BULLETIN LIVE AT RED On May 26, 2016 The Flaming Lips performed their classic album The Soft Bulletin in its entirety with the Colorado Symphony at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. The Flaming Lips (Wayne Coyne, Steven Drozd, Michael Ivins, Derek Brown, Jake Ingalls, Matt Kirksey and Nicholas Ley) were accompanied by a 69-piece orchestra and 56-strong Chorus. The performance was conducted by the internationally celebrated conductor Andre de Ridder. The Flaming Lips performed the 12-track album in its original sequence with new arrangements for each song that use the orchestra and chorus to great effect. This entire concert was produced by The Flaming Lips, Scott Booker and their long-time collaborator Dave Fridmann. The resulting live album is being released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Soft Bulletin, originally released in 1999. The album was the band’s breakthrough moment and featured the hit singles “Race For The Prize” and “Waitin’ for a Superman”.
