However, even though many of the songs on this soundtrack are not as memorable as their more popular collaborations, this album is not that bad. In fact, many of the songs are quite catchy, including "The World Is a Circle" and "Reflections." Some of the vocals are sung by the actors, including  Sally Kellerman  and the late  Bobby Van.  Burt Bacharach  has a certain knack for production of not-so-great singers (himself included) and, fortunately, it shows here with the actors. Other actors had their singing parts dubbed by more seasoned vocalists.  Shawn Phillips  is the singer on the title track.

Meses después ya en 1983 sale otro nuevo single, la irresistiblemente pegadiza “(Keep Feeling) Fascination ” que fue otro grandísimo éxito y que desgraciadamente ha envejecido fatal. Todo parecía preparado para la edición del nuevo álbum con dos grandes éxitos de adelanto pero el grupo no estaba convencido con el material que tenían entre manos y se produce una crisis en el grupo que termina con la ruptura de relaciones con el productor Martin Rushent y el comienzo desde cero del nuevo álbum con los productores Hugh Padgham y Chris Thomas, mientras en USA se edita el ep “ Fascination! ” con temas procedentes de los singles “ Mirror man ” y “ Keep feeling (Fascination), aparte de un tema nuevo “ i love you to much ” en una versión producida por Rushent muy superior y diferente a la que terminaría en el siguiente álbum del grupo “hysteria”. The EP was issued by Virgin Records in North America (though made available in Europe as an import) as a stop-gap release in between the albums Dare (1981) and Hysteria (1984). The original vinyl release of Fascination! contained six tracks, including two versions of their single "(Keep Feeling) Fascination" as well as " Mirror Man ", both of which were hits in the UK and the U.S. Also included is " Hard Times ", which was originally the B-side of their 1981 hit "Love Action" and also appears on the band's 1982 remix album Love and Dancing. The featured version of "I Love You Too Much" is an earlier version of the song that would later be released on the band's Hysteria album in 1984. The album was released as a digital download in 2008 with a bonus track, a dub version of "I Love You Too Much". A CD version was released as part of the "deluxe edition" release of Dare in 2012,[2] minus Hard Times, but with other extra tracks. In November 2015 a Limited Edition Single-CD is released (only in Japan), same Tracklist as the Dare "deluxe edition".  

HUMAN LEAGUE - HISTERIA - ALBUM VINILO ORIGINAL 1984 PRIMERA EDICION VIRGIN RECORDS HUMAN LEAGUE - HISTERIA - ALBUM VINILO ORIGINAL 1984 PRIMERA EDICION VIRGIN RECORDS En 1984 sale “ Hysteria ”, el grupo parece que quiere hacer un pop mas organico, menos electrónico y menos energico que el ofrecido anteriormente,  contiene tres singles: la sorprendente “ the lebannon ” tanto por las guitarras muy cercanas al rock como por la letra muy política, esta claro que el publico del grupo, acostumbrado a cosas mas ligeras, quedo impactado con esta cancion como adelanto del nuevo album, en la cara b de este single nos encontramos la instrumental " thirteen " que en mi opinion debio ir en el album pues es un tema muy bueno. El invernal medio tiempo “ life on your own ” es quizas el sonido que hubiese sido ideal para todo el album y para diferenciarse de su anterior etapa, sin embargo se trata de un caso mas bien aislado. Luego tenemos la excelente balada “ louise ”, una bonita cancion que parece la segunda parte de " don't you want me " por la letra y que tiene unos bajos envolventes que son una pura delicia. Quizas podriamos añadir a los tres singles del album el tema " so hurt " una cancion muy bien construida con el dramatismo justo y un uso inteligente de los sintetizadores. El pop esta muy presente en el álbum, por ejemplo " i'm coming back ", cabe preguntarse como habrían sonado estas canciones con la producción de Martin Rushent. Jo Callis, deja la banda en medio de la promocion de " Hysteria " poco despues seria sustituido por el bateria Jim Russel que no iba a durar demasiado en el grupo. En medio de esta epoca problematica Phil Oakey disfruto de un momento dulce al colaborar con uno de sus idolos Giorgio Moroder en el single "together in electric dreams" tema principal de la pelicula "electric dreams", este single inesperadamente tuvo un exito masivo, tanto que se planeo un album completo para desarrollar esta colaboracion. By the time Hysteria was released, three years had passed since Dare and the album met with relatively lacklustre success in comparison to its multi-platinum predecessor. EP and " Don't You Know I Want You " is a reworked version of the instrumental B-side "Total Panic!" that appeared on the "(Keep Feeling) Fascination" single in 1983.

The ones who loved The Wipers as much as Burt Bacharach as much as The Shangri-Las. They were the band that made the punks feel like they could sing harmonies and pop fans could get in touch with their anger. Cassie Ramone’s lyrics alternated between love, loss and rage. They were heart-on-their-sleeves romantics in one breath and a spiraling explosion of feedback in the next. After their third album -- 2011’s Share the Joy -- the members of Vivian Girls parted ways and the band who had known each other since they were teenagers, went about the business of living. Katy Goodman and Ali Koehler both moved to Los Angeles, continued making music (La Sera for Goodman, Best Coast and Upset for Koehler) and started families. The trio began playing together again during the spring of 2018 and by October Memory was recorded with producer Rob Barbarto (Kevin Morby, The Fall). Memory is an album filled with personal reflections on toxic relationships, the false promise of new love, mental health struggles, and finding ways to accept oneself amidst it all. Fittingly, the sonic textures of the album match this sense of desperation and longing. It’s a loud, snarling journey and there’s a sense of streamlined direction and intensity to the performances: it sounds like a band returning to a core idea of itself.

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - SUN ZOOM SPARK 1970 TO 1972 CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - SUN ZOOM SPARK 1970 TO 1972 Rhino intends to change that with a limited edition four-LP collection that revisits the albums Captain Beefheart (aka Don Van Vliet) recorded with the Magic Band in the early Seventies. It includes all three albums, which have been remastered for the first time, as well as an entire disc featuring 14 previously unissued outtakes from that era. Recorded over a couple of weeks in the summer of 1970 at United Recording Group in Hollywood, Lick My Decals Off, Baby was released the following October. One of Van Vliet's favorites, the album represents the apex of his dissonant style and includes such standout tracks as the quirky-funny I Love You, You Big Dummy and the exquisite solo guitar piece One Red Rose That I Mean. It was followed by The Spotlight Kid, which was recorded at The Record Plant in Los Angeles during the summer of 1971. It features a more barebones, blues-rock sound on songs like Click Clack, I'm Gonna Booglarize You Baby and Alice In Blunderland. Lester Bangs wrote in Rolling Stone (March '72) that Beefheart had struck the balance between intensely personal type of statement and mass appeal, praising the album for its wit and genius.Soon after, Clear Spot was released. Recorded in the summer of 1972, the album introduced several standout tracks, such as the vulnerable love song My Head Is My Only House Unless It Rains, the soul ballad Too Much Time, and the pulsing Big Eyed Beans from Venus. The fourth and final LP in SUN ZOOM SPARK includes unreleased tracks and is a trove of alternate versions, rehearsals and outtakes from the sessions for The Spotlight Kid and Clear Spot. The LP reveals just how much some songs evolved before being released. Among the highlights are a sung-version of I Can't Do This Unless I Can Do This/Seam Crooked Sam, which became a spoken-word performance on Bat Chain Puller; a raucous, off-kilter version of Dirty Blue Gene that pointed the way to the final version on Doc a

The Byrds habían echado el cierre de una manera ya más bien lánguida, porque todo acaba estropeándose, y este jefe de operaciones enorme quiso refrendar su apabullante pedigrí haciendo lo que le dio la real gana. Impresiona la facilidad con la que, en aquellos aún iniciales años setenta, este hombre podía tirar de agenda. La armónica que abre la inaugural ‘I’m so restless’, sin ir más lejos, corresponde a un tal Dylan, mientras que el saxofonista que irrumpe para alborotar el canónico folk-rock de ‘My new woman’ es cortesía del mismísimo Charles Lloyd. No se detienen ahí las sorpresas: ‘Draggin’ no es solo un evidente tributo a los Beach Boys, sino que las armonías las aporta Bruce Johnston, uno de los Chicos de la Playa. ‘Time cube’ mira hacia la tradición más pura de estrofa repetida, aunque extrañamente coloreada con un sintetizador Moog. Pero es de autoría propia, a diferencia del epílogo del álbum, la célebre tonada tradicional ‘The water is wide’. El modo más campestre, con ‘slide’ de por medio, le sirve a ‘Bag full of money’ para abrir la cara B, donde a su vez se cuela el desmadre fronterizo de ‘Mi linda’ o el ‘blues’ a la vieja usanza de ‘Hanoi Hannah’. Y es toda esa mezcolanza, su permanente carácter híbrido, las decisiones extrañas (el coro infantil de ‘Stone’), lo que quizá no hiciese de este LP un referente de su década. In a sense, it's a back-to-basics album that emphasizes much of what McGuinn does so well: his forceful reedy vocals, his guitar playing, and his skills at both writing earnest folk-rock material (usually with future Bob Dylan collaborator Jacques Levy here) and interpreting unusual traditional and contemporary songs. Never was it folkier than on the acoustic "I'm So Restless," which benefited from harmonica by Dylan himself (about whom the song was partially about). All four of the other original Byrds play on "My New Woman," which is virtually a reunion of the original quintet, with the addition of saxophone by jazzman Charles Lloyd; David Crosby makes unobtrusive cameos on some other tracks. As likable as it is, however, the album isn't an unqualified triumph. Some of the songs aren't so hot, some of the Moog synthesizer (by McGuinn) is unnecessary, his vocals sometimes seem to have been recorded with too much brittleness, and none of this is as good as the best of the Byrds. Unexpected influences make themselves heard in the Beach Boys harmonies of "Draggin'" (with Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys on piano and backup harmonies), the Vietnam blues of "Hanoi Hannah," and the gospel-rock of "Stone." The 2004 CD reissue adds two previously unissued bonus tracks: a solo acoustic cover of the traditional folk song "John, John" and a less pleasing cover of Jackson Browne 's "Jamaica, Say You Will." With so much new material on deck, it seems like Harrison is making up the difference. Half a dozen tracks from this treasure trove of new tunes have already been posted one-by-one in real time and real weather as Harrison describes this creative process, and now the first of an eventual four albums that will ultimately contain much of the entire song cycle, has been announced. Arriving on CD and Digital on July 29th 2016 and a deluxe Limited Edition Vinyl LP release on September 2nd 2016, the eleven-track Death of The Cool contains another nine of Harrisons pure pop meditations on Chinese philosophy, along with the two currently available tracks that initially announced the project The Book of Too Late Changes (based on I Ching hexagram #24: The Return) and Child Bride (based on #4: Youthful Folly.) Each songs commentary on the albums reflects how a translator traditionally shares thoughts on the reading, Harrison says. However, I will limit my commentary to the readings themselves, and let the songs enjoy a free-range lifestyle. For anyone thinking that 64 songs written around a single theme cant possibly maintain a standard of quality, welcome to the unlikely world of Cotton Mather. Founded by Robert Harrison in Austin in the early 1990s, the band initially had an experimental sound, but soon evolved into a guitar-driven pop group defined by accessible melodies, strong vocal harmonies and lyrical wit. And with good reason'or, actually reasons! First of all, as the house band of the hallowed Stax label, The MG's pretty much invented the sound of Southern soul, playing on records by everybody from Otis Redding to Wilson Pickett to Carla Thomas. Second, on their own as Booker T & the MG's, they came up with some of the most indelible instrumental jams of all time, including'but by no means limited to!''Green Onions.' And, third, each member of the band was an absolute monster on their instrument, to this day revered and copied by untold numbers of musicians. Indeed, by the time the mid '60s rolled around, bands on both sides of the Atlantic wanted to sound like Booker T. Jones, Steve Cropper, Al Jackson, Jr, and Lewie Steinberg (replaced about halfway through this collection by the great Donald 'Duck' Dunn). And what was that sound? Well, a typical MG's tune started from the bottom-up, resting on the rock-solid drumbeat of Jackson and the in-the-pocket bass work of Steinberg and, later, Dunn, over which keyboardist Jones and guitarist Cropper traded slinky and/or stinging licks. But these cats weren't just riff-happy groove masters; Jones basically codified the classic Hammond organ sound and Cropper's guitar tone remains the Holy Grail of anyone who's ever picked up a Fender Telecaster.
