VINTAGE HAND CARVED SCANDINAVIAN WINTER SCENE LANDSCAPE EN ESPAÑA

This charming landscape was made in 1936 and has been hand carved from Swedish pine. The dimensional artwork features a snow-covered Swedish croft - a torp - along with a small child being pulled on a sled alongside a wooden fence. The scene includes a stand of birch located on the left next to a small shed painted in a traditional red color associated with torps. Thickly forested hills can be seen in the distance under a blue sky bearing wispy white clouds. The artwork has an incorporated carved frame that has also been finished in red paint. The piece is signed and dated by the artist at the lower left. The artwork is in very good condition and the original paint shows little-to-no sign of wear. As a vintage item, the carving shows slight signs of age consisting of minor nicks to the wood. The piece measures 13.5" by 10" and the frame is.875" thick. The piece weighs in at 1lb 4oz. This terrific folk art landscape has a rustic woodsy appeal and displays beautifully. The versatile size enables it to be hung on a wall or placed in an easel on a table or shelf.
