The Jag Sessions recordings are a collection of unreleased rarities and record quality demos recorded by Byron McCay at Jag Studios in Raleigh, NC made between 1996 and 1998 that previously have only been circulated among fans and as digtially as a low flying cd releases for sale at shows. Some of the collection is made up of songs originally recorded for Columbia Records in 1996 for a demo deal with the label that never came to fruition. The songs from 1998 in the set are songs that were recorded for pro demos and potential release as a follow up to HIGH HAT as an EP. Pressed on red vinyl, the album comes with download card that features 2 extra songs.

ZOMBIES - ZOMBIESIN THE BEGINNING ZOMBIES - ZOMBIESIN THE BEGINNING Limited five 180gm colored vinyl LP set. Hailing from the unlikely setting of St. Albans, The Zombies burst onto the UK and US pop scene in August 1964 with the smash hit She's Not There, penned by keyboard player Rod Argent. Colin Blunstone's breathy vocals set the record apart from the band's contemporaries, and they followed it up with a second hit in Tell Her No. Their debut album Begin Here was released on the Decca label in 1965. Despite issuing several more excellent singles, further chart success eluded the band, although Dusty Springfield covered Argent's If It Don't Work Out (which the band also recorded). The Zombies signed to CBS in 1967 and recorded a new album over the summer, producing the sessions at Abbey Road and Olympic Studios themselves. The result was the classic Odessey And Oracle, but by the time the album was released in April 1968, the band had split up. Time Of The Season went on to be a huge hit in the US in 1969, selling over a million copies. This set is book-ended by the two 'proper' albums that the band recorded, Begin Here and Odessey And Oracle. In between, Early Days and Continue Here round up the band's various A-sides, B-sides and EP tracks. The fourth LP faithfully recreates the R.I.P. album, an intended posthumous release of overdubbed outtakes that was shelved when new band Argent emerged from the ashes of The Zombies. The whole set is housed in a rigid slipcase. The inner sleeves include photos from designer Phil Smee's extensive collection, while the albums are pressed on different coloured vinyl.

GERALDINE FIBBERS - LOST SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE EAR GERALDINE FIBBERS - LOST SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE EAR Discográfica: Jealous Butcher Records The Geraldine Fibbers' Lost Somewhere Between The Earth And My Home is about taking risks. Carla Bozulich decided to hunt down what was killing her and rip it to shreds, unsure how but doing it anyway. She put together a great band. They were lucky in lots of ways. The drive behind the project was to burn up indoctrination and shame and guy-centric rock, and to have fun with friends in the L.A. scene. They weren't trying to break barriers or be the best, just to scratch their way out of the cold, cold ground and to make and play some fresh songs. The band for this record was Bill Tutton (contra-bass), Kevin Fitzgerald (drums), Daniel Keenan (guitar), Jesse Greene (violin) and Carla Bozulich (vox, guitar). Four bonus tracks include Nels Cline (in an alt-cover of Can's You Doo Right, for example) and Jessica Moss (Silver Mount Zion) playing on a brand new Fibbers track. Thank You For Giving Me Life. Minutemen and / or Pettibon fans, the lyrics of this track will ring bells! There are so many genders. Many of her lyrics, in Bozulich's mind, are written and sung by a man or a genderless creature, just saying what has to be said. Girl bands are a great statement against misogyny in rock and roll, but it turned out that playing with the Fibbers, consisting of random gendered humans who strongly opposed discrimination, was also a beautiful solution-to simply play with the best musicians she knows, drawn together by pure musical magnetism and wanting to be soaked in underground madness and beauty. Lost Somewhere Between The Earth And My Home was recorded by Steve Fisk (Nirvana, Unwound, Beat Happening) and released in 1995. It is, in turns, tempestuous and tender. Classic country wraps up with noise, a crack-band and a singular voice mix like a twisted, American journey.

YOUNG NEIL & PROMISE OF - VISITOR YOUNG NEIL & PROMISE OF - VISITOR When Neil Young entered Shangri La Studio with the band Promise Of The Real a few months ago, there were a lot of images and feelings careening around his soul. The country was heading in a direction Young had never seen, even though up until then he thought he'd seen it all. But something different was happening, and it had gotten inside his music. I'm a Canadian by the way and I love the USA, he sings on the first song Already Great. The ethos of The Visitor can be summed up in the refrain of Already Great where Young insists, Already great, you're already great. You're the promise land, the helping hand. No wall. No hate. No fascist USA. WHOSE STREET? OUR STREET. From those words, Neil Young was ready to take a musical journey on his new album The Visitor like he had never taken before. It was one where he'd even surprise himself, always the mark of a creative leap. By the end of the recording sessions, he knew he'd made his most diverse album going all the way back to Harvest in 1972, when America was also in the throes of becoming unhinged. Neil Young didn't blink then, and he is not blinking now.

DENIECE WILLIAMS: I'VE GOT THE NEXT DANCE [ESP 1979] 7” DENIECE WILLIAMS: I'VE GOT THE NEXT DANCE [ESP 1979] 7” Deniece Williams "I've Got The Next Dance" single 7" (CBS) 1979 made in Spain cat. num. CBS 7399 #disco #soul #funk a. I've got the next dance b. when love comes calling One of the most distinctive vocalists who arrived during the soul era, Deniece Williams is known for soaring, four-octave soprano voice, late-'70s and early-'80s R&B classics such as "Free" and "Silly," and the 1984 number one pop hit "Let's Hear It for the Boy." Born June Deniece Chandler in Gary, Indiana, she grew up singing in a Pentecostal church, which forbid the congregation to listen to anything but gospel music. Outside of wanting a 1959 Thunderbird, she had no serious ambitions but was deeply interested in music. Her favorite singers were Carmen McRae (for her diction) and Nancy Wilson, who, for Williams, exemplified class and elegance. However, her she also looked up to her parents, both of whom sang. From 1968 through 1970, Williams recorded a handful of singles for the Chicago-based Lock and Toddlin' Town labels as Deniece (or Denise) Chandler. None of them charted, but "I'm Walking Away" and "Mama, I Wish I Stayed Home" became Northern soul cult classics. In need of employment and with college on the back burner, the fledgling singer was introduced to personal hero Stevie Wonder by John Harris, her cousin from Detroit, who happened to be on tour as a valet for Wonder (and was also his childhood friend). Her cousin arranged for Williams to meet Wonder backstage at a concert. Six months later, Williams was flown into Detroit by Wonder for an audition. Among the 26 who auditioned, Williams, who sang "Teach Me Tonight," was one of three hired by Wonder. The three became known as Wonderlove. Her touring with Wonder lasted for several years, a period in which she recorded background vocals for Talking Book, Fulfillingness' First Finale, and Songs in the Key of Life, Wonder -produced Syreeta and Minnie Riperton sessions, and other releases by the likes of Esther Phillips and Roberta Flack.

The key bandmembers were already well known to Australians. Lead singer Glenn Shorrock had made his name in mid-'60s group the Twilights, a Beatles -sounding pop group that scored a national number one record with its version of the Velvelettes ' "Needle in a Haystack." When the group broke up in 1969, Shorrock became lead singer of Axiom, whose "A Little Ray of Sunshine" is still an Australian classic rock staple. LRB 's Beeb Birtles had been the bass player for a popular Twilights -era pop group called Zoot (Rick Springfield was a later member). When that group broke up, in search of musical credibility, Birtles auditioned as the bass player, but was instantly elevated to a front-line position alongside Graham Goble. Even LRB 's manager was well-known. Glenn Wheatley had been the bassist with another of Australia's bands, and possibly its most legendary, the Masters Apprentices. Given all that background, when Shorrock and Birtles revealed they were forming a group with Goble, managed by Wheatley, it was major event in Australian music.

GARY CROWLEYS LOST 80S - GARY CROWLEYS LOST 80S GARY CROWLEYS LOST 80S - GARY CROWLEYS LOST 80S Triple vinyl LP pressing. Lost 80s presents 30 tracks compiled by Gary Crowley across three 'themed' LPs, from 'Jingly Jangly' indie-pop 7s to the edge of the New Romantic, and Dance grooves. Many of these tracks are rare and very hard to find having not appeared on CDs or LPs since the original 80s releases. The better known artists that do appear here are represented by some of their lesser-known ('lost') tracks. The 80s (and especially the first part) was an amazing time for music. It was a mad, fast, kaleidoscopic rollercoaster ride where the chancers taking your money not only walked the walk; they backed it up with innovative, amazing tunes that changed the way music was made forever. That's certainly how I remember it... Gary Crowley Presented across 3 x Heavyweight 180g pieces of coloured vinyl, and including an introduction and track by track notes by Gary Crowley, plus memories of the era from Nick Heyward (Haircut 100), Sarah Dallin (Bananarama), Gary Kemp (Spandau Ballet) Annabella Lwin (Bow Wow Wow), Clare Grogan (Altered Images) and more. So here, spread over these three LPs, I've collected together the best (in my personal opinion) of the guitar bands, the dance acts and the synth groups that made up the soundtrack of that gloriously thrilling decade for me and my friends. Let me just state for the record, you'll find no Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Duran Duran, Dire Straits or the like appearing on these discs...

ART GARFUNKEL: ANGEL CLARE [ESP 1984] LP/RE ART GARFUNKEL: ANGEL CLARE [ESP 1984] LP/RE Art Garfunkel "Angel Clare" LP (CBS) 1984 made in Spain cat. num. Garfunkel took no chances, issuing as the first single Jimmy Webb 's "All I Know," which was arranged in a similar style to "Bridge" and made the Top Ten. Elsewhere on the record, Garfunkel took a more spirited approach, notably on a version of Van Morrison 's "I Shall Sing" that was reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel 's "Cecilia" and made the Top 40. Certainly, there was enough firepower on the record, which featured guitarists Jerry Garcia and J.J. Cale. But much of it was filled with stately, orchestra-laden ballads, sung by Garfunkel in his naïve, breathy tenor. If Simon & Garfunkel had been the thinking man's Everly Brothers, Garfunkel alone turned out to be the thinking man's Johnny Mathis.

BOOKER T. & THE MGS - COMPLETE STAX SINGLES VOL.1 BOOKER T. & THE MGS - COMPLETE STAX SINGLES VOL.1 Discográfica: Real Gone Music With apologies to groups like The Meters, Bar-Kays, and Average White Band, when it comes to all-time great instrumental R&B bands, for most folks Booker T. & the MG's represent the gold standard. And with good reason'or, actually reasons! First of all, as the house band of the hallowed Stax label, The MG's pretty much invented the sound of Southern soul, playing on records by everybody from Otis Redding to Wilson Pickett to Carla Thomas. Second, on their own as Booker T & the MG's, they came up with some of the most indelible instrumental jams of all time, including'but by no means limited to!''Green Onions.' And, third, each member of the band was an absolute monster on their instrument, to this day revered and copied by untold numbers of musicians. Indeed, by the time the mid '60s rolled around, bands on both sides of the Atlantic wanted to sound like Booker T. Jones, Steve Cropper, Al Jackson, Jr, and Lewie Steinberg (replaced about halfway through this collection by the great Donald 'Duck' Dunn). And what was that sound? Well, a typical MG's tune started from the bottom-up, resting on the rock-solid drumbeat of Jackson and the in-the-pocket bass work of Steinberg and, later, Dunn, over which keyboardist Jones and guitarist Cropper traded slinky and/or stinging licks. But these cats weren't just riff-happy groove masters; Jones basically codified the classic Hammond organ sound and Cropper's guitar tone remains the Holy Grail of anyone who's ever picked up a Fender Telecaster. Together, they recorded 49 single sides for Stax under the name of Booker T. & the MG's, and you'll find the first 29 (yes, 29!) of 'em right here, released on a single CD or double-LP pressed in blue vinyl and limited to 1000 copies. As with all of our singles collections, we have very carefully vetted these songs to make sure they are the correct mono single versions, with mastering by Dan Hersch at d2 Mastering, and tape research and sourcing by Mike Johnson and Aaron Kannowski with hel

COTTON MATHER - DEATH OF THE COOL COTTON MATHER - DEATH OF THE COOL Discográfica: Star Apple Kingdom It did not take 15 years for Cotton Mathers Austin-based main man, Robert Harrison to write the 64 songs (64 songs!) that comprise his latest musical vision, one song for each hexagram (defined as any of a set of 64 figures made up of six parallel whole or broken lines) of the I Ching, it s actually the amount of time that has passed since the last full-length album of new Cotton Mather songs was released. With so much new material on deck, it seems like Harrison is making up the difference. Half a dozen tracks from this treasure trove of new tunes have already been posted one-by-one in real time and real weather as Harrison describes this creative process, and now the first of an eventual four albums that will ultimately contain much of the entire song cycle, has been announced. Arriving on CD and Digital on July 29th 2016 and a deluxe Limited Edition Vinyl LP release on September 2nd 2016, the eleven-track Death of The Cool contains another nine of Harrisons pure pop meditations on Chinese philosophy, along with the two currently available tracks that initially announced the project The Book of Too Late Changes (based on I Ching hexagram #24: The Return) and Child Bride (based on #4: Youthful Folly.) Each songs commentary on the albums reflects how a translator traditionally shares thoughts on the reading, Harrison says. However, I will limit my commentary to the readings themselves, and let the songs enjoy a free-range lifestyle. For anyone thinking that 64 songs written around a single theme cant possibly maintain a standard of quality, welcome to the unlikely world of Cotton Mather. Founded by Robert Harrison in Austin in the early 1990s, the band initially had an experimental sound, but soon evolved into a guitar-driven pop group defined by accessible melodies, strong vocal harmonies and lyrical wit. Cotton Mather released its debut album Cotton Is King in 1994, but it was the follow-up album Kontiki, famously recorded on four-

Track listing: All songs written and composed by Martin Fry and Mark White. Side one 1. "Fear of the World" 3:50 2. "Be Near Me" 3:37 3. "Vanity Kills" 3:28 4. "Ocean Blue" 3:36 5. "15 Storey Halo" 5:36 Side two 1. "A to Z" 2:49 2. "(How to Be A) Millionaire" 3:34 3. "Tower of London" 3:36 4. "So Hip It Hurts" 4:17 5. "Between You and Me" 3:16 How to Be a...Zillionaire! is an album by the band ABC. It was released in the autumn of 1985. Four singles were released from this album, "(How to Be A) Millionaire " (UK: 49, US: 20), " Be Near Me " (UK singles chart: 26, US Billboard Hot 100: 9), " Vanity Kills " (UK: 74, US: 91), and the fourth was " Ocean Blue ", (UK: 54). The album peaked on the UK Albums Chart at 28 and on the Billboard 200 at 30. On the cover the album's title is in the foreground lit up like a spotlight against a tri-tone background on which various quotes of the album's lyrics can be seen. There is also a drop shadow behind the title. No dialogue at the start of the song " Vanity Kills ". Eden (see band line up in next section) does the harmony vocal on the song " Ocean Blue ". Guitars completely absent from Side Two/Tracks 6–10. No cursing from Eden in the song "A to Z". Four seconds of silence between "A to Z" and "(How to Be a) Millionaire". ZZ TOP / AFTERBURNER 1985 !! ORG USA EDIT, CONTIENE ENCARTE + 1ª LABEL ORIGINAL !! TODO EXC ZZ TOP / AFTERBURNER 1985 !! ORG USA EDIT, CONTIENE ENCARTE + 1ª LABEL ORIGINAL !! Declinaron la oferta Tracks: -- 1: Sleeping Bag -- 2: Stages -- 3: Woke Up With Wood -- 4: Rough Boy -- 5: Can't Stop Rockin' -- 6: Planet Of Women -- 7: I Got The Message -- 8: Velcro Fly -- 9: Dipping Low (In The Lap Of Luxury) -- 10: Delirious Notes: ZZ Top: Billy Gibbons (vocals, guitar); Dusty Hill (vocals, bass); Frank Beard (drums). After scoring its biggest hit ever with its eighth release, 1983's polished ELIMINATOR, ZZ Top decided to continue in the same mainstream direction for its next release two years later, AFTERBURNER. Another big hit for the band, the album did spawn several hits, yet wasn't as strong overall as its predecessor. It was impossible to avoid the following ZZ hits on either MTV or radio between 1985-'86--the ballad "Rough Boy" (which innovative video was based on AFTERBURNER's space-age cover art), the synth stomper "Velcro Fly," the melodic "Sleeping Bag," or the rocking "Stages." 15 years after the band's debut release, AFTERBURNER found ZZ Top more popular than ever. Engineer: Bob Ludwig; Joe Hardy Producer: Bill Ham

ADAM AND THE ANTS - KINGS OF THE WILD FRONTIER - VINILO ORIGINAL 1ª EDICION 1980/1981 ADAM AND THE ANTS - KINGS OF THE WILD FRONTIER - VINILO ORIGINAL 1ª EDICION 1980/1981 Adam and the Ants era una banda punk y new wave inglesa de finales de los años 1970 y comienzos de los años 1980. Kings of the Wild Frontier is the second album by English new wave band Adam and the Ants. It was released in November 1980 by record label CBS. This album introduced the "Burundi beat" sound to popular music. Kings of the Wild Frontier was released on 3 November 1980 by record label CBS in the UK and Epic records internationally. It reached No. 1 in the UK Album Chart, and spawned three hit singles: "Kings of the Wild Frontier", which was released in July and reached No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart; "Dog Eat Dog", which reached No. 4; and 'Antmusic', released in December and reaching No. 2, as well as No. 1 in Australia for five weeks. The album was the UK number 1 selling album in 1981 (and the 48th best seller in 1980) and won Best British Album at the 1982 Brit Awards. The next year the two cut the similar-sounding Under Wraps using the Jethro Tull banner. Most of the work, including drum programming, was done by Anderson in his home studio before guitar and (scant) bass guitar were added. The group members were excited about their latest sounds, which brought a cold edginess to the usual intricate music (the acoustic "Under Wraps No. 2" being one exception). Lyrically, Anderson was letting go of his Olde English façade; here he showed his fascination with Cold War-era espionage. While the British audiences didn't mind the changes, U.S. buyers pretty much hated the album. Compared to the U.S. number 19 position of 1982's The Broadsword and the Beast, Under Wraps never got past number 76. (Crest of a Knave, three years later, shot up to number 33.) The original release had 11 tracks, with "Astronomy," "Tundra," "Automotive Engineering," and "General Crossing" appearing as B-sides and bonus tracks around the world. Now the standard release carries all 15 tracks.

Pistas: 1 Fragile 3:54 2 Up From The Skies 10:06 3 Someone To Watch Over Me 4:32 " Fragile " is a song written and performed by English musician Sting from his second studio album...Nothing Like the Sun. Released as a single the following year, it placed to number 70 on the UK Singles Chart. Sung additionally in both Spanish and Portuguese under the titles "Fragilidad" and "Fragil", it appeared twice more on his 1988 EP variant of the album, Nada como el sol. The Spanish version features as a b-side to "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying".The song is a tribute to Ben Linder, an American civil engineer who was killed by the Contras in 1987 while working on a hydroelectric project in Nicaragua. The song was featured in the 1992 Academy Award winning documentary film The Panama Deception, about the U.S. invasion of Panama in December 1989. "Fragile" was the opening song in Sting's...All This Time concert, recorded on the evening of the September 11 attacks in 2001. The song also appears in the closing scenes of "Come from the Shadows", episode 59 of 21 Jump Street, the fourth episode of Season Four. The song also appears in the 1995 Oscar nominated documentary The Living Sea.

Y sangrar. Pocas veces alguien fue más felizmente triste. Mainstream is the third and final studio album released by Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. It was produced by Ian Stanley and released by Capitol Records in the US and Polydor in the UK on 26 October 1987. It contained the hits " From the Hip ", " My Bag ", and " Jennifer She Said ". Although the album reached number nine in the UK, it failed to chart in America and was not embraced by all critics: Mainstream is the only Lloyd Cole and the Commotions release not to sell at least 100,000 copies in the US. The album took two years to make as finding a producer proved difficult. The band first went with Chris Thomas, when that did not work out they brought in Stewart Copeland. With Copeland they only recorded one track, " Hey Rusty ", then finally found Ian Stanley. Donegan reflected in 2004 that "with the previous LP, Easy Pieces, we had tried to broaden out and make more of a pop record and it hadn't really worked. It sounded rushed and the songs were not all up to standard. So, a year after Easy Pieces, we went into the studio to try and make something more powerful. But the LP that we actually made took so long that we lost our initial vision by the time we finished it. The songs that Lloyd was writing were more introspective, so the stadium rock idea gradually went out the window." Track listing: All tracks written and composed by Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, except where noted. 1."My Bag" – 3:56 2."From the Hip" (Neil Clark, Cole, Blair Cowan, Lawrence Donegan, Stephen Irvine, McKillop) – 3:57 3."29" – 5:28 4."Mainstream" – 3:14 5."Jennifer She Said" – 3:02 6."Mr. Malcontent" – 4:49 7."Sean Penn Blues" – 3:28 8."Big Snake" (lyrics: Cole, music: Ian Stanley) – 5:16 9."Hey Rusty" – 4:30 10."These Days" – 2:27

" Promised You A Miracle " is a 1982 song by Simple Minds and was released as the first single from their fifth studio album New Gold Dream (81–82–83–84). It is most notable for being the band's first successful chart hit in the UK, reaching #13 in the UK Singles Chart and charting for 11 weeks.[Their previous nine UK singles yielded no Top 40 hits in that country. It was the only song on the album that included Kenny Hyslop as the studio session drummer. Mike Ogletree and Mel Gaynor contributed for the other eight tracks. The song triggered a prolonged period of commercial success for the band, during which they yielded 21 original UK hit singles in a row, up to and including 1998's "Glitterball" from the album Neapolis. It also enabled them to make their debut on the British music television show Top of the Pops. A live version from the album Live in the City of Light was released in 1987. SIMPLE MINDS: CELEBRATION [ESP 1982] LP/COMP SIMPLE MINDS: CELEBRATION [ESP 1982] LP/COMP Simple Minds "Celebration" LP (Arista) 1982 made in Spain cat. num. I-204 521 #new wave #pop rock #synth pop Life In A Day Chelsea Girl Premonition Factory Calling Your Name I Travel Changeling Celebrate Thirty Frames A Second Kaleidoscope Originally released in 1982 by Arista in the U.K. and reissued on CD by the Dutch Disky imprint in 2001, Celebration serviceably culls some of the better moments from Simple Minds ' first three albums: 1979's Life in a Day and Reel to Real Cacophony and 1980's Empires and Dance. Given the sadly neglected status of the band's early catalog -- meaning anything that was released prior to 1982's breakthrough New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84) -- through the early 2000s, it is doubly unfortunate that a compilation like this remained out of print for an extended period of time. And though the studio albums remained in print in the U.K., Simple Minds ' early years hardly received the red carpet compilation treatment that their later works did. While nothing here came close to approaching the stadium-pleasing popularity of later smashes like "Don't You (Forget About Me)," "Alive and Kicking," or even "Promised You a Miracle," Celebration might provide a little shock to an initiated someone who snaps up a copy. It's a near-definite that plenty of people who own New Gold Dream and/or the Glittering Prize 81/92 compilation remain oblivious to the fact that Simple Minds released five albums that ranged from good to spectacular between 1979 and 1981, before New Gold Dream came along with its perfect balance of art and pop to connect with a mass audience. Not only was 1979-1981 a prolific period for the band, but it was a period that witnessed them blossoming from a decent guitar-based post-punk band to a far more rhythmic and experimental entity that gradually shed their influences while ambitiously building on them. And as the few brave souls who have remained devout Simple Minds fans from day one might tell you, Celebration has stood the test of time better than Glittering Prize track-for-track.

NICK LOWE: LABOUR OF LUST [ESP 1979] LP NICK LOWE: LABOUR OF LUST [ESP 1979] LP Nick Lowe "Labour Of Lust" LP (Radar) 1979 made in Spain cat. num. S 90.150 #rock #pop rock Cruel To Be Kind Cracking Up Big Kick, Plain Scrap! Born Fighter You Make Me Skin Deep Switchboard Susan Endless Grey Ribbon Without Love Dose Of You Love So Fine Jesus of Cool was a jukebox, spinning out a series of perfectly crafted -- and decidedly quirky and subversive -- pop singles. In contrast, Nick Lowe 's second album, Labour of Lust, is the work of a bar band, in this case Rockpile, playing the hell out of the same type of songs. Naturally, the result is a more coherent sound that may be a little less freewheelingly eclectic, but it is no less brilliant. Recorded simultaneously with Dave Edmunds ' Repeat When Necessary, Labour of Lust benefits from the muscular support of Rockpile, who make Lowe 's songs crackle with vitality. Working primarily in the roots rock vein of Brinsley Schwarz but energizing his traditionalist tendencies with strong pop melodies, a sense of humor, and an edgy new wave sensibility, Lowe comes up with one of his best sets of songs. Not only is his only hit, the propulsively hook-laden "Cruel to Be Kind," here, but so are the rampaging outsider anthem "Born Fighter," the tongue-in-cheek, Chuck Berry -style "Love So Fine," the wonderful pure pop of "Dose of You," the haunting "Endless Grey Ribbon," the druggy "Big Kick, Plain Scrap!," and the terrific "Cracking Up," as well as his definitive version of Mickey Jupp 's "Switchboard Susan." It's an exceptional collection of inventive pop songs, delivered with vigor and energy, making it one of the great records of the new wave.

LOVE ACTUALLY - LOVE ACTUALLY LOVE ACTUALLY - LOVE ACTUALLY Discográfica: Real Gone Music Ten interlocking love stories, one big (mostly) happy ending'Love Actually is one of the best romantic comedies of the last two decades, capturing, in poignant, bittersweet fashion, all of the complexity of modern love. One reason why Richard Curtis' 2003 film succeeded with critics and audiences alike (and still plays on cable and even in theaters all the time!) was its incredible cast: Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Keira Knightley, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Billy Bob Thornton, Andrew Lincoln, Rowan Atkinson'the list goes on. But another very important reason was its score; as Curtis writes in the personal note we've included in the package, 'Without its music, Love Actually wouldn't work at all. I know'because I saw the film without the music, and 1t's a shocker.' Indeed, the high wattage star power of the actors in Love Actually is matched by its musical artists: The Beach Boys, Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson, Norah Jones, Dido, Eva Cassidy, Joni Mitchell, The Pointer Sisters, and more (plus a bonus Christmas-themed track from Otis Redding)! The result: a listening experience every bit as satisfying (and romantic) as the film. For this holiday vinyl release, we've pressed up red and white 'candy cane' platters and put 'em inside a comely gatefold jacket. A must for the movie's many fans and a Christmastime essential!

After that, the core trio returned to Astoria, and worked further on the compositions, alongside co-producer Bob Ezrin, refining the structure, tempos and arrangements. The result, after lyrics and vocals were added, was the 12 million selling 'Division Bell' album. At the time, there had been talk of a separate ambient album being created from the non-vocal tracks not subsequently issued on 'The Division Bell', but the idea was eventually dropped. In 2014 David Gilmour and Nick Mason re-entered the studio and, starting with unreleased keyboard performances by Richard Wright, who sadly died in 2008, added further instrumentation to the tracks, as well as creating new material. The result is The Endless River, including 60% of recordings other than the 1993 sessions, but based upon them. The title is a further link, '... the endless river…' being part of the closing phrases of High Hopes, the final song of the previous Pink Floyd album. David Gilmour describes the record as follows: The Endless River has as its starting point the music that came from the 1993 Division Bell sessi

HANCOCK HERBIE - DIRECTSTEP HANCOCK HERBIE - DIRECTSTEP Discográfica: Get On Down 2019 Black Friday Record Store Day Throughout the 1970s, legendary jazz pianist and composer Herbie Hancock engaged in a prolonged period of experimentation across sounds and recording formats, releasing several albums for Columbia that were only issued in Japan. 1979's Directstep was one such album, one that made use of a new form of recording technology called Direct-To-Disc. This method recorded masters, in real time, to acetate discs, rendering incredibly high fidelity LP pressings, but sacrificing the ability to edit or overdub, a challenge Hancock and his group were more than up to. Directstep utilized other technological advancements as well, incorporating brand new electronic instrument technology such as the electronic wind instrument the Lyricon, the freshly released Propet-5 synthesizer, and of course the Sennheiser Vocoder which would become a key part of the artist's arsenal during his electro-funk period in the 1980s. Beyond all that, Directstep is an incredibly solid collection of Herbie Hancock material, featuring stirring remakes of Hancock staples Butterfly and I Thought It Was You as well as brand new track Shiftless Shuffle. Get On Down is proud to present this reissue of Directstep, a gem of jazz-fusion, available on vinyl for the first time in 30 years for RSD Black Friday!
