Electric Ladyland  es el tercer  álbum  de  The Jimi Hendrix Experience, el cual fue lanzado en  1968, siendo el último de la banda. Es un álbum doble considerado uno de sus trabajos más destacables. Muestra elementos que anticipan el  rock progresivo  (Aunque no pertenece a este género pero puede ser considerado una influencia) en canciones como "1983... (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)", y la versión de la canción de  Bob Dylan  " All Along The Watchtower " (que suele ser considerada por muchos como la mejor versión de la misma, incluso por Dylan [cita requerida]). La grabación del álbum fue muy problemática. Luego de una complicada gira por  Escandinavia  e  Inglaterra, Hendrix decidió regresar a su país natal,  Estados Unidos  (se había mudado a Inglaterra antes de ser popular). Frustrado por las limitaciones de las grabaciones comerciales, decidió crear un moderno estudio en  Nueva York, en el que no tuviera limitaciones para expandir su visión musical. La construcción del mismo, llamado Electric Lady, tuvo diversos problemas y no fue terminado hasta mediados de  1970. Como resultado, grabó gran parte de  Electric Ladyland en The Record Plant. Los disciplinados hábitos de trabajo de Hendrix se volvieron erráticos, y la combinación de sesiones interminables y de estudios llenos de aduladores finalmente causaron que el productor  Chas Chandler  renunciara en mayo de  1968. Chandler más tarde se quejó de que Hendrix insistía en grabar muchas tomas de cada canción (al parecer, de "Gypsy Eyes" se hizo 43 tomas, y a pesar de eso Hendrix aún no estaba satisfecho con el resultado). El perfeccionismo de Hendrix llevó al guitarrista Dave Mason a que grabara 20 tomas de la guitarra acústica de "All Along The Watchtower". A pesar de las dificultades, muchas canciones de este álbum muestran la expansión de la visión de Hendrix (se dice que el sonido de este álbum inspiró parcialmente al de  Bitches Brew  de  Miles Davis [cita requerida]), y en el colaboró con músicos como Mason, Chris Wood y Steve Winwood de  Traffic; el batería Buddy Miles, el bajista de  Jefferson Airplane  Jack Casady y el exorganista de Dylan  Al Kooper.

Publicado originalmente en el mismo sello que Ladies WC, este disco extremadamente difícil de conseguir destaca por ser mucho más que un simple álbum de versiones. La canción original del grupo ‘Gon’na Ride’ resiste comparaciones con sus estupendas aproximaciones al repertorio de los clásicos de Hendrix y Cream. Un disco realmente soberbio. Pasada la primera mitad de la década de los sesenta la música popular juvenil comienza a tomar un tono más obscuro. Los Beatles habían comenzado a escribir letras más reflexivas y la economía instrumental comenzaba a aparecer gracias a artistas como Taste, Cream y la Jimi Hendix Experience. Por otro lado, la exuberancia de la música soul estaba en su mejor momento gracias a las grabaciones de los sellos Motówn y Stax. Es así como en el año 1968 aparece una agrupación integrada por tres jóvenes de entre 17 y 18 años de edad que habían asumido completamente el acontecer musical del mundo en aquellos momentos. Love Depression fue la respuesta venezolana a la actividad musical de la época, ya un poco saturada de la melosidad de un pop ligeramente teñido de rock. El bajista Richard Aumaitre venia de saborear el gran éxito con la agrupación Los Darts, mientras que el guitarrista Alvaro Falcón ya comenzaba a despertar interés, primero con The Laymen, en la ciudad de Washington en donde cursó estudios, y luego ya en Venezuela junto a la agrupación Los Snobs. Por su parte Jesús Toro “Torito” tiene una historia singularmente divertida: acostumbrado a cantar bajo la ducha es escuchado por sus vecinos, unos jóvenes cubanos quienes tenían un grupo llamado Los Espitas al que lo invitan a integrarse. “Pero un día conocí a Los Beatles y la vida me cambió” recordaba. Más adelante formaría parte de grupos como Nasty Pillows y posteriormente a Love Depression de otra gran agrupación como lo fue Tsee Muds. Stephen Scott, miembro de la banda seminal del rock psicodélico venezolano Ladies WC recuerda que “Para esa época había apenas unos pocos grupos como Love Depression que estuvieran rompiendo el molde”. En abril de 1968 graban su único álbum, repleto de guitarras con fuzz y con un toque psicodélico, considerado una de las obras maestras del rock hecho en Venezuela. Lamentablemente, el período de actividad de la banda fue corto, pero intenso: participación en las recordadas Experiencias Psicotomiméticas, en Pop&Op Musical y en diferentes presentaciones a través de la red hotelera más importante de Venezuela de la época y hasta su participación en la banda sonora de la olvidada película venezolana “Dana”.
