Given the sadly neglected status of the band's early catalog -- meaning anything that was released prior to 1982's breakthrough  New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84)  -- through the early 2000s, it is doubly unfortunate that a compilation like this remained out of print for an extended period of time. And though the studio albums remained in print in the U.K.,  Simple Minds ' early years hardly received the red carpet compilation treatment that their later works did. While nothing here came close to approaching the stadium-pleasing popularity of later smashes like "Don't You (Forget About Me)," "Alive and Kicking," or even "Promised You a Miracle,"  Celebration  might provide a little shock to an initiated someone who snaps up a copy. It's a near-definite that plenty of people who own  New Gold Dream  and/or the  Glittering Prize 81/92 compilation remain oblivious to the fact that  Simple Minds  released five albums that ranged from good to spectacular between 1979 and 1981, before  New Gold Dream  came along with its perfect balance of art and pop to connect with a mass audience. Not only was 1979-1981 a prolific period for the band, but it was a period that witnessed them blossoming from a decent guitar-based post-punk band to a far more rhythmic and experimental entity that gradually shed their influences while ambitiously building on them. And as the few brave souls who have remained devout  Simple Minds  fans from day one might tell you,  Celebration  has stood the test of time better than  Glittering Prize  track-for-track.

Quienes vieron a Simple Minds actuar en aquella gira tuvieron la impresión de que la banda estaba cerrando un capítulo importante de su carrera, como si quisiera pasar página. Cuando en la primavera de 1987 se publica el doble álbum en vivo 'In the city of light', grabado en el Zenith de París, el grupo vuelve a acelerar los corazones de sus miles de fans. Sus cuatro caras contienen una hora y media de gran rock, una suma de toda la producción de la banda escocesa. Live In The City Of Light fue un disco en directo, editado en 1987, en donde se plasmaba la extensa gira del grupo por aquel entonces, grabado durante la actuación de 2 noches en París en 1986. El disco tuvo un gran éxito comercial pero no fue capaz de demostrar el gran directo de la banda. Tras la extenuante gira, el grupo decide tomarse un descanso. Durante estos años, Simple Minds fue un gran colaborador y divulgador de Amnistía Internacional. Live In The City Of Light is the first (double LP / CD) live album by Scottish rock band Simple Minds. It was released in May 1987 to document their successful worldwide Once Upon a Time tour, and charted at No. 1 in the UK. The album spawned one chart single release, a live version of "Promised You a Miracle". The album was recorded mostly at Le Zénith, Paris in August 1986, with one track recorded in October 1986 in Sydney, Australia. (Although the album was not recorded there, the inside of the gatefold sleeve features a photograph of a concert from the 1986 tour which took place in a square in Locarno, Switzerland). It features the band's 1986 touring lineup, which included second vocalist Robin Clark and percussionist Sue Hadjopoulos. Lisa Germano (at the time, a John Mellencamp band member who would perform on Simple Minds' next studio single, Belfast Child), contributed studio-overdubbed violin on "Someone Somewhere in Summertime" and former Simple Minds member Derek Forbes contributed  bass guitar overdubs. Live In The City Of Light was released as a double vinyl album with the band's logo in gold lettering over black sleeve. The package featured a 12" x 12" attached giant-sized booklet with state-of-the-art photography of the band's performance and outdoor session pictures. This art could not be reproduced faithfully on later CD releases (an original 1st pressing on double-fat jewel case and the USA version packaged in a long box on two separate discs). SIMPLE MINDS - REJUVENATION 2001-2014 VINYL B SIMPLE MINDS - REJUVENATION 2001-2014 VINYL B Limited six colored vinyl LP pressing. After leaving the Virgin label, and a one-off album with Chrysalis, Simple Minds took stock and decided to make records for themselves. An album of cover versions of songs dear to Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, Neon Lights, was released in 2001, followed by Cry in 2002, an album of new compositions recorded in Glasgow and Sicily. The recordings for Black and White 050505 were completed on the 5th May 2005, hence the title. This album and Neon Lights and Cry make their first appearances on vinyl in this box set, with specially-created outer and inner sleeves, and include some exclusive bonus tracks from the CD releases. Graffiti Soul continued the band's return to the top, charting at # 10 in May 2009. Big Music was released in October 2014, charting at #12. All the albums are pressed on different coloured 180 gram vinyl, and the rigid slipcase features a brand new note by Jim Kerr.

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme es el tercer álbum de Simon & Garfunkel, que significa Perejil, salvia, romero, y tomillo, haciendo referencia a la segunda línea de la canción Scarborough Fair. Publicado el 10 de octubre de 1966, se convirtió en disco de oro y alcanzó el cuarto puesto en los listados de éxitos. El disco está compuesto en su mayoría por algunas temas grabados anteriormente por Simon.  UNA ABSOLUTA OBRA MAESTRA DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS. sin duda uno de los albunes que mas he disfrutado, temas que ponen los pelos de punta y donde el duo es perfecto, sus voces son de terciopelo art y simon hacen que se les escuchen cada matiz y detalle de sus tonos, temas emblematicos como escarborough fair hoy en dia me sigue emocionando o el The 59th Street Bridge Song que maravilla casi cantado a pelo solo con sus voces y una acustica, el tema Flowers Never Bend With the Rainfall..autentico folk pero como ese algo diferente que ellos tenian...siempre delicados,sensibles..y asi es todo el albun una verdadera obra maestra que no tienes que perderte. Hermoso disco, como así son las apacibles melodías y la bella combinación de voces de sus autores e intérpretes, líricos declarantes de una generación reivindicativa en un escenario de decisivos cambios, como fue la incorporación de la protesta y demanda juvenil en el ámbito sociocultural y político, fruto, entre otros muchos factores, de la madurez aportada al rock y el pop por los músicos procedentes del folk, avezados poetas de cariz social. Este es un álbum con sonoridades acústicas de folk pop barroco con apoyos de clavicordios y alegóricas historias de matiz antibélico, exposiciones de angustia existencial en cálidas tonalidades, refugio interno en el hogar conocido, rítmicas piezas satíricas que se burlan del consumismo desaforado, delicados cánticos de apariencia optimista, simpáticos ejercicios dylanianos, entonaciones líricas con comentario social, recuerdos para la gran poetisa Emily Dickinson o el tradicional "Noche de Paz" arrullando apuntes sobre la guerra del Vietnam y la protección de los derechos civiles. El disco, producido por el gran Bruce Johnston, presenta unos fenomenales arreglos vocales de Art Garfunkel, siempre a la sombra compositiva del maestro Paul Simon, quien nos regala joyas, al margen de los grandes clásicos del álbum (entre ellos "Scarborough Fair" o "Homeward Bound"), como "The Dangling Conversation" o la maravillosa "Flowers never bend with the rainfall", todo un prodigio de sensibilidad y talento melódico. Simon y Garfunkel habían dejado atrás su imagen de dúo adolescente fabricante de éxitos pegadizos para dar paso a personas más interesadas en buscar nuevas sonoridades para sus canciones cada vez más relacionadas con la sociedad convulsa que les tocó vivir. Esto ocurría con mayor vehemencia cuando grabaron su tercer elepé, un disco que llevaba en el título las palabras de una vieja canción de Inglaterra, arreglada por Simon y Garfunkel. Esta pieza, que abre el álbum, y la última, "O' Clock News/Silent Night", son las únicas de procedencia foránea, aunque el dúo superpusiera algunos versos propios de claro contenido social y antibelicista. El repertorio se completa en este disco con grandes composiciones de Paul Simon: "Patterns", "Cloudy", "Flowers Never Bend with the Rainfall" o "For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her", que convierten a "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme" en uno de los mejores elepés de la década, en pleno reinado del folk-rock y del Dylan electrizado. La larga sombra de la influencia de este último se aprecia en "A Simple Desultory Philippic", pero el dúo ya adulto se convirtió en una referencia para muchos grupos y solistas que supieron apreciar sus cualidades melódicas y vigorosas composiciones, las cuales abundaban en su tercer elepé. La portada se realizó con una fotografía de Bob Cato con el título en letras góticas. Portada casi inmaculada cartón duro que favorece su conservación y el buen estado en que se encuentra. Sólo una pequeña marca en la contraportada como de haber tenido una pegatina y una inscripción, sin roturas y sin escrituras o pegatinas. Casi imposible encontrar una copia en estas condiciones. Funda interior blanca plástico casi nueva. Contraportada que contiene cuatro portadas de otros discos de Elvisque acaba con Aloha From Hawaii. No está amarillenta, sino que conserva el blanco original, algo muy raro de ver en un disco de esta edad. Además esta edición traía un logotipo especial conmemorativo. Disco con la etiqueta naranja. El vinilo visto a simple vista sólo presenta una raya en una parte de la cara A que no afecta el sonido, y marcas superficiales difíciles de apreciar a simple vista, por lo que lo catalogo como muy bien conservado para su edad. Lo tengo gustoso en mi colección particular, y sólo lo vendería a alguien que lo supiera valorar de acuerdo a este estado de conservación y de rareza, de ahí el precio.
