El líder del grupo era Adrian Borland y se formó como evolución de su banda anterior, The Outsiders. Compartieron casa de discos con grupos como: Echo & the Bunnymen y The Chameleons y compartieron escenario con Echo & the Bunnymen, The Comsat Angels, The Au Pairs, Modern Eon, Felt, Medium Medium, U2, Public Image Ltd., Eyeless In Gaza, The Stranglers, China Crisis, Thompson Twins, y Aztec Camera entre otros muchos. Son multitud los que están de acuerdo en que The Sound no recibió el reconocimiento que merecía. It was favourably received by NME and received airplay from DJ John Peel. More of their early recordings were later released as the album Propaganda in 1999.

After that, the core trio returned to Astoria, and worked further on the compositions, alongside co-producer Bob Ezrin, refining the structure, tempos and arrangements. The result, after lyrics and vocals were added, was the 12 million selling 'Division Bell' album.At the time, there had been talk of a separate ambient album being created from the non-vocal tracks not subsequently issued on 'The Division Bell', but the idea was eventually dropped.In 2014 David Gilmour and Nick Mason re-entered the studio and, starting with unreleased keyboard performances by Richard Wright, who sadly died in 2008, added further instrumentation to the tracks, as well as creating new material. Este album, y el resto de los discos de the Psychedelic Furs cumplen ese objetivo, no definen nada ni crean un sonido que no haya sido oido antes por el resto del mundo.  Su sonido no era del todo original y cuando intentaban diferenciarse del mainstream, lo hacian solo mezclando ideas preexistemtes. Pero para aquellos que no esperan grandes sorpresas ni un album unico, este disco es perfecto. No estamos diciendo que este no es un buen disco, nada mas alejado de eso, 'Midnight To Midnight' es lo mas cercano que puedes estar de algo bueno si ser genial. 'Midnight To Midnight' es dificil de describir en palabras, es el pinaculo de la apatia de principio a fin. Toma varias veces de escucharlo hasta que finalmente se torna familiar. La tematica de las canciones giran alrededor de la idea comun del amor y de las separaciones. Como por ejemplo en " Heartbreak Beat ", el single mas importante del disco. It was originally released in early 1987, on the label Columbia. Richard Butler later claimed that the success of "Pretty in Pink" caused the band to be pressured into entering the recording studio to record a follow-up release before they were ready.[citation needed] The result was Midnight to Midnight, their biggest Top 40 success to date, but an album Richard Butler later characterized as "hollow, vapid and weak". A more overtly commercial effort than the Furs had ever recorded before, the album also featured the single "Heartbreak Beat", which proved to be the Furs' biggest Top 40 entry in the US at that time. Given the sadly neglected status of the band's early catalog -- meaning anything that was released prior to 1982's breakthrough  New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84)  -- through the early 2000s, it is doubly unfortunate that a compilation like this remained out of print for an extended period of time. And though the studio albums remained in print in the U.K.,  Simple Minds ' early years hardly received the red carpet compilation treatment that their later works did. While nothing here came close to approaching the stadium-pleasing popularity of later smashes like "Don't You (Forget About Me)," "Alive and Kicking," or even "Promised You a Miracle,"  Celebration  might provide a little shock to an initiated someone who snaps up a copy. It's a near-definite that plenty of people who own  New Gold Dream  and/or the  Glittering Prize 81/92 compilation remain oblivious to the fact that  Simple Minds  released five albums that ranged from good to spectacular between 1979 and 1981, before  New Gold Dream  came along with its perfect balance of art and pop to connect with a mass audience. Not only was 1979-1981 a prolific period for the band, but it was a period that witnessed them blossoming from a decent guitar-based post-punk band to a far more rhythmic and experimental entity that gradually shed their influences while ambitiously building on them. And as the few brave souls who have remained devout  Simple Minds  fans from day one might tell you,  Celebration  has stood the test of time better than  Glittering Prize  track-for-track.

The three of them had been delivering mysterious space records on a regular basis, and their growing confidence with early synthesizers (the best that money could buy at the time) made them virtuosos of the genre, even as they kept things organic and unpredictable with gongs, prepared piano, and electric guitar. Rubycon has aged gracefully for the most part, making it a solid companion (and follow-up) to their 1974 album, Phaedra. The somewhat dated palette of sounds here never overshadow the mood: eerie psychedelia without the paisleys -- Pink Floyd without the rock. "Rubycon, Pt. 1" ebbs and flows through tense washes of echo and Mellotron choirs, as primitive sequencer lines bubble to the surface. "Pt. 2" opens in a wonderfully haunted way, like air-raid sirens at the lowest possible pitch, joined in unison by several male voices (someone in the band must have heard György Ligeti's work for 2001). Rising out of the murkiness, the synthesizer arpeggios return to drive things along, and Froese weaves his backwards-recorded guitar through the web without really calling too much attention to himself. The piece evolves through varying degrees of tension, takes a pit stop on the shoreline of some faraway beach, then ever so gradually unravels a cluster of free-form strings and flutes. The rest are vapors, your ears are sweating under your headphones, and the smoke has cleared from your bedroom. This is a satisfying ambient record from the pre-ambient era, too dark for meditation, and too good to be forgotten.

Initially, the 19-piece orchestra combined saxophonist  Peter Brotzmann 's trio and trumpeter  Manfred Schoof 's quintet with a phalanx of other early giants of European free jazz (mostly from Germany); they included, among many others, trombonist  Albert Mangelsdorff, woodwind players  Gunter Hampel  and  Willem Breuker, vibist  Karl Berger, bassists  Buschi Niebergall  and  Peter Kowald, and drummers  Jaki Liebezeit  (of the rock group  Can) and  Sven-Åke Johansson. The initial performance was a historic and rousingly cacophonous success, and  Von Schlippenbach  kept the group going, serving as its musical director for most of the next two decades. Naturally, the membership fluctuated quite a bit; by the early '70s, the group had more of a British presence, with players like guitarist  Derek Bailey, saxophonist  Evan Parker, and trombonists  Malcolm Griffiths  and  Paul Rutherford, plus trumpeter  Kenny Wheeler  and drummer  Han Bennink.  Von Schlippenbach  left for a bit in 1971, but returned the following year, and the group began playing outside of Germany more often beginning in 1974, which also marked the point at which more of their music was preserved on record (much of it on FMP). As the orchestra evolved, it relied less and less on structured arrangements, eventually becoming completely free. However, since a 20th-anniversary celebration and recording session, the group has mostly been silent.

This singer-songwriter was also proficient on guitar and harmonica. Shearston moved with his family to Sydney at the age of 12, after his father’s farm was destroyed by drought. By the time Shearston was 19 he was a professional singer performing traditional Australian music in pubs, clubs and on radio and television. In the late 50s he made his first recording, for the Festival label, and this was followed by a number of albums for CBS Records in the early to mid-60s. Two of these albums were described as ‘among the best records of traditional music ever made in Australia’. In 1965, Shearston received an award for the best composition of the year when ‘Sometime Lovin’’ was covered by a number of artists including Peter Paul And Mary. In the mid-60s, together with Martyn Wyndham-Read, he recorded a live album on the Australian Score record label, although CBS would not let Shearston appear on the album. In addition, he had his own folk music television programme.  Shearston then travelled to the USA in 1968 and lived there for the next four years. During the mid-70s Shearston relocated to Britain, where he recorded two albums for Charisma Records. Shearston’s one major hit in the UK came in 1974, when ‘I Get A Kick Out Of You’ made the Top 10. This single made Shearston the first Australian artist to have a simultaneous hit in Britain and Australia. Despite the long gap between albums he carried on and worked the folk clubs of Europe. Returning to Australia from England in 1988, Shearston was made a Deacon of the Anglican Church in December 1991, and has served in the parishes of Narrandera, Deniliquin, Hay, and Bangalow. In 2001, he released his first new studio album in over a decade.

ZOMBIES - ZOMBIESIN THE BEGINNING ZOMBIES - ZOMBIESIN THE BEGINNING Limited five 180gm colored vinyl LP set. Hailing from the unlikely setting of St. Albans, The Zombies burst onto the UK and US pop scene in August 1964 with the smash hit She's Not There, penned by keyboard player Rod Argent. Colin Blunstone's breathy vocals set the record apart from the band's contemporaries, and they followed it up with a second hit in Tell Her No. Their debut album Begin Here was released on the Decca label in 1965. Despite issuing several more excellent singles, further chart success eluded the band, although Dusty Springfield covered Argent's If It Don't Work Out (which the band also recorded). The Zombies signed to CBS in 1967 and recorded a new album over the summer, producing the sessions at Abbey Road and Olympic Studios themselves. The result was the classic Odessey And Oracle, but by the time the album was released in April 1968, the band had split up. Time Of The Season went on to be a huge hit in the US in 1969, selling over a million copies. This set is book-ended by the two 'proper' albums that the band recorded, Begin Here and Odessey And Oracle. In between, Early Days and Continue Here round up the band's various A-sides, B-sides and EP tracks. The fourth LP faithfully recreates the R.I.P. album, an intended posthumous release of overdubbed outtakes that was shelved when new band Argent emerged from the ashes of The Zombies. The whole set is housed in a rigid slipcase. The inner sleeves include photos from designer Phil Smee's extensive collection, while the albums are pressed on different coloured vinyl.
