In a professional career that lasted 60 years, he demonstrated a remarkable ability to maintain his appeal and pursue his musical goals despite often countervailing trends. He came to the fore during the swing era of the 1930s and '40s, helped to define the "sing era" of the '40s and '50s, and continued to attract listeners during the rock era that began in the mid-'50s. He scored his first number one hit in 1940 and was still making million-selling recordings in 1994. This popularity was a mark of his success at singing and promoting the American popular song as it was written, particularly in the 1920s, '30s, and '40s. He was able to take the work of great theater composers of that period, such as  Jerome Kern,  Irving Berlin,  George Gershwin,  Cole Porter, and  Richard Rodgers, and reinterpret their songs for later audiences in a way that led to their rediscovery and their permanent enshrinement as classics. On records and in live performances, on film, radio, and television, he consistently sang standards in a way that demonstrated their perennial appeal.

ZOMBIES - ZOMBIESIN THE BEGINNING ZOMBIES - ZOMBIESIN THE BEGINNING Limited five 180gm colored vinyl LP set. Hailing from the unlikely setting of St. Albans, The Zombies burst onto the UK and US pop scene in August 1964 with the smash hit She's Not There, penned by keyboard player Rod Argent. Colin Blunstone's breathy vocals set the record apart from the band's contemporaries, and they followed it up with a second hit in Tell Her No. Their debut album Begin Here was released on the Decca label in 1965. Despite issuing several more excellent singles, further chart success eluded the band, although Dusty Springfield covered Argent's If It Don't Work Out (which the band also recorded). The Zombies signed to CBS in 1967 and recorded a new album over the summer, producing the sessions at Abbey Road and Olympic Studios themselves. The result was the classic Odessey And Oracle, but by the time the album was released in April 1968, the band had split up. Time Of The Season went on to be a huge hit in the US in 1969, selling over a million copies. This set is book-ended by the two 'proper' albums that the band recorded, Begin Here and Odessey And Oracle. In between, Early Days and Continue Here round up the band's various A-sides, B-sides and EP tracks. The fourth LP faithfully recreates the R.I.P. album, an intended posthumous release of overdubbed outtakes that was shelved when new band Argent emerged from the ashes of The Zombies. The whole set is housed in a rigid slipcase. The inner sleeves include photos from designer Phil Smee's extensive collection, while the albums are pressed on different coloured vinyl.

Well, despite the subhead on the album proclaiming them as 'The Newest Teen-Age Singing Group,' they didn't'but that didn't stop the label execs at Decca Records from trying to cash in on the new CBS hit TV show! Veteran producers Joe Hooven and Hal Winn had the good sense to hire the Wrecking Crew (most notably Glen Campbell and Leon Russell) to play this surf-tinged set of songs, and brought in The Go-Go's (nope, not those Go-Go's, they were just out of diapers'this was a male vocal trio that cut one LP for RCA back in 1964, the same year this record came out) to sing the lyrics to such gems as 'You Created a Monster' and 'Make It Go Away.' The whole thing is a hoot, and a highly collectible hoot at that'original copies of this album command 'monstrous' sums! Aaron Kannowski remastered our reissue, and for this vinyl reissue, we've pressed up a limited edition of 1000 copies in ghoulish gray vinyl'get ready to do the Munster creep this Halloween and beyond!

DEVIANTS - DEVIANTS #3 (BLACK & WHITE NU DEVIANTS - DEVIANTS #3 (BLACK & WHITE NU Discográfica:   Real Gone Music The Deviants were the closest thing the '60s British rock scene had to The Mothers of Invention, with a Stoogeslike fondness for fuzz guitar freakouts thrown in. And playing the Frank Zappa role as lyricist, singer, and provocateur was Mick Farren, one of the most intriguing figures to emerge from the UK underground. Farren actually had a much longer and distinguished career as a writer than he did as a musician…he penned a total of 23 novels and 11 works of non-fiction, all of them redolent of his unique sensibility (his 1976 article The Titanic Sails at Dawn for New Musical Express predicted the rise of punk rock). And on the music side, he never did anything that wasn't extreme, collaborating with Lemmy of Hawkwind and Motörhead and Wayne Kramer of the MC5 among others residing on the cutting and bleeding edge of rock and roll. 1969's Deviants III was the third and last record he cut with his band The Deviants (the other members went on to form Pink Fairies); despite the strains in the band and Farren's later panning of its quality, it's regarded in some quarters as a masterpiece, capturing the dark side of the end of the '60s with such songs as Billy the Monster and The People's Suite. Our reissue features the rare gatefold art that came out on the Sire label in the States, with a black and white nun's habit vinyl pressing limited to 1000 copies. Farren collapsed while playing on stage with a re-formed (but not reformed!) version of The Deviants in 2013 and died soon thereafter…a fitting way for the unrepentant radical to go. R.I.P. Mick Farren.

Abrams was an astounding success, earning almost 400 million at the box office. The composing duties were turned over to Michael Giacchino, then know mostly for his Abrams TV work on Alias and Lost. The album was a success, moving almost 100k copies in the U.S. alone across CD and digital downloads. This is the first time the album has been made available on LP. Giacchino is the composer on the current Jurassic Park films, The Incredibles, Coco, Spider-man and Dr. Strange. It is the only Star Trek title from the rebooted franchise which has not appeared on vinyl, despite being the most successful of the films.

The best way for us to honor our past is to build on it and keep making new music. The band does just that on Stone Temple Pilots. Straight-ahead rockers like the first single Meadow and Never Enough channels the gritty guitars and swaggering rhythms that STP perfected on Core (1992), Purple (1994), and No. 4 (1999). Great Balls of Fire! is a 1989 American biographical film directed by Jim McBride and starring Dennis Quaid as rockabilly pioneer Jerry Lee Lewis. Based on a biography by Myra Lewis and Murray M. Silver, Jr., the screenplay is written by McBride and Jack Baran. The film is produced by Adam Fields, with executive producers credited as Michael Grais, Mark Victor, and Art Levinson. The early career of Jerry Lee Lewis, from his rise to rock and roll stardom to his controversial marriage to his 13-year-old cousin that led to his downfall, is depicted in the film. Until the scandal of the marriage depreciated his image, many had thought Lewis would supplant Elvis Presley as the "King of Rock and Roll" in the 1950s. The story was co-written by Myra Gail Lewis (her autobiography Great Balls of Fire!), the former wife of Jerry Lee Lewis, with Murray Silver. Despite this, co-writer Silver was upset by the lack of accuracy in the film, claiming it was "phoney". COLOURBOX: THE OFFICIAL COLOURBOX WORLD CUP THEME [UK 1986] 7' COLOURBOX: THE OFFICIAL COLOURBOX WORLD CUP THEME [UK 1986] 7' Colourbox   "The Official Colourbox World Cup Theme"  single 7" (4AD)  1986  made in UK cat. num.  AD 605 #synth pop   A The Official Colourbox World Cup Theme 3:06 B Philip Glass 3:29   One of the legendary 4AD label's earliest and most under-recognized acts,  Colourbox  were among the first artists outside of the realm of hip-hop to rely heavily on sampling techniques; ultimately, their arty blue-eyed soul -- a fusion of far-ranging influences spanning from classic R&B to dub to industrial -- reached its commercial and creative apotheosis through their work on  M/A/R/R/S ' seminal "Pump Up the Volume" project, a reflection of the group's longstanding interest in the burgeoning underground dance music scene of the 1980s.  Colourbox  were primarily the work of London-based brothers Martyn and  Steven Young, who recruited vocalist  Debbion Currie  to sing on their 1982 4AD debut, "Breakdown."  Curry  was replaced by  Lorita Grahame  in time for the trio's 1983 re-recording of the same track, this time produced by  Mick Glossop.  Colourbox 's self-titled debut EP -- a collection of dub and scratching experiments heralding their first plunge into sampling technology, edited down from three hours of studio sessions -- appeared later that same year, with the single "Say You" following in 1984. After another 12", "Punch," the group issued 1985's "The Moon Is Blue," a teaser for its upcoming full-length LP, also a self-titled affair; "Baby I Love You So" and "The Official Colourbox World Cup Theme" both appeared the following year.  In 1987, at the behest of 4AD chief  Ivo Watts-Russell, the Young brothers teamed with labelmates  A.R. Kane  as  M/A/R/R/S  to record a single fusing the rhythms and beats from classic soul recordings with state of the art electronics and production. Complete with scratches by champion mixer  Chris "C.J." Mackintosh  and London  DJ Dave Dorrell, "Pump Up the Volume" -- a breakthrough effort heralding sampling's gradual absorption from hip-hop into dance music and ultimately the pop mainstream -- soon topped the British charts, the first 4AD release to accomplish that feat. Plans for a follow-up never materialized, however; stranger still, despite  M/A/R/R/S ' success, both the Youngs and  Colourbox seemed to vanish, with no future recordings forthcoming.

This singer-songwriter was also proficient on guitar and harmonica. Shearston moved with his family to Sydney at the age of 12, after his father’s farm was destroyed by drought. By the time Shearston was 19 he was a professional singer performing traditional Australian music in pubs, clubs and on radio and television. In the late 50s he made his first recording, for the Festival label, and this was followed by a number of albums for CBS Records in the early to mid-60s. Two of these albums were described as ‘among the best records of traditional music ever made in Australia’. In 1965, Shearston received an award for the best composition of the year when ‘Sometime Lovin’’ was covered by a number of artists including Peter Paul And Mary. In the mid-60s, together with Martyn Wyndham-Read, he recorded a live album on the Australian Score record label, although CBS would not let Shearston appear on the album. In addition, he had his own folk music television programme.  Shearston then travelled to the USA in 1968 and lived there for the next four years. During the mid-70s Shearston relocated to Britain, where he recorded two albums for Charisma Records. Shearston’s one major hit in the UK came in 1974, when ‘I Get A Kick Out Of You’ made the Top 10. This single made Shearston the first Australian artist to have a simultaneous hit in Britain and Australia. Despite the long gap between albums he carried on and worked the folk clubs of Europe. Returning to Australia from England in 1988, Shearston was made a Deacon of the Anglican Church in December 1991, and has served in the parishes of Narrandera, Deniliquin, Hay, and Bangalow. In 2001, he released his first new studio album in over a decade.
