Las doce canciones de  Like an Arrow  son testimonios de la destreza compositiva del guitarrista y vocalista  Charlie Starr  , así como del virtuosismo instrumental de Starr y sus compañeros de banda: Paul Jackson, guitarra y voz;  Brandon Still, llaves;  Richard Turner, bajo y voz;  Brit Turner, batería.  Juntos, van y vienen sin esfuerzo entre el country de la vieja escuela y el hard rock clásico, tocando varios otros géneros en el camino. 'Waiting for the Thunder' llega con una frase de acorde de poder furioso que coincide con la furia de las letras que están a punto de seguir en esta candente pista de inicio.  “Enciende la mecha y corre ahora hermano, porque no tienes mucho tiempo;  Será mejor que te escapes rápido para que no tengas que responder por qué ”, grita Starr sobre una batería que suena como un  T-Rex  pisando fuerte .  Las guitarras gemelas crujientes, el bajo retumbante y las teclas sucias se empaquetan para crear una formidable ola sónica que te invade y te golpea el trasero. Starr utiliza su admirable don para escribir canciones, tanto estructural como líricamente, para crear la variada gama de composiciones que, en última instancia, hacen de  Like an Arrow  la obra maestra moderna que es.  Desde el estridente, casi rockabilly 'Let it Burn', donde canta alegremente y sin pedir disculpas sobre la quema de una ciudad que no puede esperar para dejar atrás (“Veré las llamas iluminar el cielo; enviarles un beso mientras Me despido ”) de 'The Good Life', una oda a la paternidad con un nudo en la garganta, ambientada en un ritmo de vals country, él dosifica a partes iguales humor y sentimiento para vender legítimamente su narración.
