'Loss Of Love' was released in 1972, not 1969. Similarly, 'The Me I Never Knew' was released in 1973, not 1969. This single and album track also featured in the film 'Alice's Adventures In Wonderland'. 'Come Saturday Morning' & 'That Night' were released in 1972, not 1969. ORIG. Bob Dylan - harmonica Gene Clark - vocals David Crosby - guitar, harmony vocals Chris Hillman - bass Leland Sklar - bass David Vaught - bass Chris Ethridge - bass Bruce Johnston - piano, harmony vocals Spanky McFarlane - vocals Mike Wofford - piano Charles Lloyd - sax Hal Blane - percussion John Guerin - drums Jim Gordon - drums Michael Clarke - drums Jerry Cole - guitar Buddy Emmons - steel guitar Spooner Oldham - keyboards Charles Lloyd - saxophone The Jimmy Joyce Children Chorus - vocals     I'm So Restless My New Woman Lost My Drivin' Wheel Draggin' Time Cube Bag Full of Money Hannoi Hannah Stone Heave Away M'Linda The Water Is Wide Roger McGuinn's 1973 self-titled solo debut was in most respects a breath of fresh air after the final days of the Byrds, in which the group was floundering in directionless mediocrity. In a sense, it's a back-to-basics album that emphasizes much of what McGuinn does so well: his forceful reedy vocals, his guitar playing, and his skills at both writing earnest folk-rock material (usually with future Bob Dylan collaborator Jacques Levy here) and interpreting unusual traditional and contemporary songs. Never was it folkier than on the acoustic "I'm So Restless," which benefited from harmonica by Dylan himself (about whom the song was partially about). All four of the other original Byrds play on "My New Woman," which is virtually a reunion of the original quintet, with the addition of saxophone by jazzman Charles Lloyd; David Crosby makes unobtrusive cameos on some other tracks. As likable as it is, however, the album isn't an unqualified triumph. Some of the songs aren't so hot, some of the Moog synthesizer (by McGuinn) is unnecessary, his vocals sometimes seem to have been recorded with too much brittleness, and none of this is as good as the best of the Byrds. Unexpected influences make themselves heard in the Beach Boys harmonies of "Draggin'" (with Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys on piano and backup harmonies), the Vietnam blues of "Hanoi Hannah," and the gospel-rock of "Stone." The 2004 CD reissue adds two previously unissued bonus tracks: a solo acoustic cover of the traditional folk song "John, John" and a less pleasing cover of Jackson Browne 's "Jamaica, Say You Will." It also has historical liner notes with plenty of quotes on the sessions and songs from McGuinn himself. ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide

The talented (and very competitive) players really dig into the opening uptempo blues ("Ali and Frazier") and they continue cooking on "If I Were a Bell,"  "Things Ain't What They Used to Be," and "Just in Time." As often happens in this type of situation, the musicians mutually inspire each other. This is one of  Dizzy Gillespie 's better sessions of the '70s; in fact, there are no losers during these battles.

CHICAGO: HOT STREETS [CBS - ESP 1990] LP CHICAGO: HOT STREETS [CBS - ESP 1990] LP Chicago   "Hot Streets"  LP (CBS)  1990  made in Spain cat. num.  LSP 982369 1 #pop rock   Alive Again 4:17 The Greatest Love On Earth 3:43 Little Miss Lovin' 4:32 Hot Streets 5:12 Take A Chance 4:35 Gone Long Gone 3:55 Ain't It Time 4:08 Love Was New 3:32 No Tell Lover 4:15 Show Me The Way 3:18   Although  Chicago  tragically marked its decade anniversary with the bitter loss of lead guitarist  Terry Kath,  Hot Streets  (1978) was not only the first release without him, it was also the band's initial offering away from  James William Guercio  -- with whom the group had worked on every one of its previous dozen long-players.  Donnie Dacus  (guitar/vocals) was brought in to fill  Kath 's formidable shoes. His maiden voyage would likewise mark the beginning of a downward spiral in terms of the string of hits that was usually associated with  Chicago  albums. Both the upbeat and pumping opener "Alive Again" and the typical adult contemporary balladry of "No Tell Lover" became their last Top 40 hits for nearly four years.  Phil Ramone 's production gives the material an added and noticeable bite. The  Peter Cetera  (bass/vocals) rocker "Little Miss Lovin" recalls the band's earliest sides by blending an aggressive backbeat with a funky and soulful rhythm. "Gone, Long, Gone," the disc's other  Cetera contribution, also stands out for  Dacus ' spot-on slide guitar intonation, which mimics a similar style used most notably by  George Harrison. Although it failed to chart when extracted as a single, Robert Lamm's (keyboards/vocals) "Love Was New" is one of the more jazz-influenced tunes on  Hot Streets. The laid-back groove effortlessly carries the melody behind a fusion of light rock and contemporary jazz. The rapidly changing pop music landscape, whose horizons would embrace disco and new wave, would all but abandon  Chicago  for the group's next few albums. Although the band attempted to adapt to the trends, it would be four LPs and four years before  Chicago  would re-emerge in full form on its comeback,  Chicago 16  (1982).

Live In The City Of Light is the first (double LP / CD) live album by Scottish rock band Simple Minds. It was released in May 1987 to document their successful worldwide Once Upon a Time tour, and charted at No. 1 in the UK. The album spawned one chart single release, a live version of "Promised You a Miracle". The album was recorded mostly at Le Zénith, Paris in August 1986, with one track recorded in October 1986 in Sydney, Australia. (Although the album was not recorded there, the inside of the gatefold sleeve features a photograph of a concert from the 1986 tour which took place in a square in Locarno, Switzerland). It features the band's 1986 touring lineup, which included second vocalist Robin Clark and percussionist Sue Hadjopoulos. Lisa Germano (at the time, a John Mellencamp band member who would perform on Simple Minds' next studio single, Belfast Child), contributed studio-overdubbed violin on "Someone Somewhere in Summertime" and former Simple Minds member Derek Forbes contributed  bass guitar overdubs. Live In The City Of Light was released as a double vinyl album with the band's logo in gold lettering over black sleeve. The package featured a 12" x 12" attached giant-sized booklet with state-of-the-art photography of the band's performance and outdoor session pictures. This art could not be reproduced faithfully on later CD releases (an original 1st pressing on double-fat jewel case and the USA version packaged in a long box on two separate discs).
