TODO EXC BUEN ESTADO, ESTA EDICION CONTIENE EL ENCARTE INTERIOR Y TAMBIEN EL BONITO LABEL CON EXCLUSIVO DISEÑO El productor Bill Ham, que se había encargado de esa tarea con Zz Top desde su primer trabajo fué el elegido también de orientar el sonido del trio tejano hacía derroteros desconocidos para cualquier fan de la banda a comienzos de los ochenta. La unión del Blues- Hard- Rock Sureño añejo con las nuevas tecnologías musicales, parecía utópico tratandose de una banda como esta, pero "Eliminator", publicado en 1983, demostraria lo contrario. Después de semejante éxito la banda y su sequito decidieron dejarse llevar y explotar el filón al máximo, "Afterburner", que salió al mercado el 28 de Octubre de 1985, ahondará aun más en los terrenos electrónicos tan de moda en aquella época y que tan buenos resultados les habian dado. Para ello cuentan nuevamente con temas muy comerciales, en "Sleeping Bag" se covijan guitarras y rítmos sintetizados, baterías electrónicas, los excesos de "Eliminator" elevados al cubo. Un año antes de que saliese este disco, Eddie Van Halen, quizás animado por el resultado satisfatorio del disco de Zz Top, banda por la que sentía una admiración total, graba "Jump". "Stages", tiene bastante en común con el tema estrella de "1984", pero sus melodías son incluso más aoreras. De todas formas, que nadie piense que Billy Gibbons se ha quedado dormido, a lo largo de la canción sus riffs están bien presentes. Como en la siguiente "Woke Up With Wood", entre la inicial "Sleeping Bag" (Otra vez esos sintetizadores) y el sonido global de "Eliminator". En este nuevo trabajo descubrimos algo inédito en Zz Top, las "Power Ballads". Ciertamente, "Rough Boy" es empalagosa y Aor hasta decir basta. El tema, tubo su repercusión mediatica sobre todo en el canal televisivo de moda "Mtv". Pero no debemos encender las alarmas, Dusty Hill recupera el encanto nuevamente con la roquera y efectiva "Can't Stop Rockin'", cargada de topicazos pero con una garra descomunal. "Plantet Of Woman", es uno de los temas a los que mejor le ha sentado el nuevo diseño sonoro de Zz Top. Las poderosas guitarras son las acompañantes ideales de una estrofa y estribillo con muchísimo gancho y comercialidad. Quizás el mejor tema de "Afterburner" con el permiso de "Dipping Low (In The Lap Of Luxuri)", otra canción super "Cool" calcada al mejor repertorio de "Eliminator". El no va más de los rejuvenecios barbudos, para bien o para mal, según se mire las componen "I Got The Message" y "Velcro Fly". En ellas, los sintetizadores ya han tomado el control total. Para los puristas fans de "Fandango" o "Tres Hombres", esto quizás pueda ser la gota que colma el vaso. La despedida con la potente "Delirious", seguro que dejará un buen sabor de boca para todo tipo de seguidores de la banda, los antiguos y los que les descubrimos con este disco. Autor: Caído En Little Big Horn ZZ Top, cariñosamente conocido por sus fans como "The Little Ol' Band from Texas", es un grupo estadounidense de southern rock y hard rock formado en 1969 en Houston, Texas. Los miembros del grupo son Billy Gibbons (voz y guitarra), Dusty Hill (bajo y voz) y Frank Beard (batería). Tienen el mérito de ser uno de los pocos grupos de rock que todavía conserva sus miembros originales después de 40 años, además de haber mantenido al mismo manager y productor, Bill Ham. Fundado por Johnny McElhone en 1986, debutó en marzo de 1988 en la Universidad de Dundee. Sharleen escribía sus propias canciones y Gerry hacía las veces de representante y se encargó de introducir al grupo entre las productoras discográficas.Mientras preparaban su primera maqueta, contactaron con Ally McErlaine, para que se hiciera cargo de la guitarra, y con Stuart Keer para la batería.El grupo tomó el nombre definitivo de Texas debido a la influencia que tuvo en ellos la banda sonora de la película 'Paris,Texas', de 1985.En 1988 debutaron y a partir de entonces no pararon de dar conciertos. Mothers Heaven is the second album from the Scottish rock band Texas. The album was released on 23 September 1991 by Mercury Records. The album peaked at no. 32 in the UK and spent 4 weeks on the charts. The album saw the release of four singles, the lead single released from Mothers Heaven was entitled " Why Believe in You " which only managed to reach #66 on the UK Singles Charts in September 1991. Follow on single, the alternative rock track, " In My Heart " was released in October 1991 but only managed to reach #74 in the United Kingdom. However, "In My Heart" became Texas's last song to date to chart in the United States, peaking at #14 on the Billboard Hot Rock Tracks chart. The song also reached #44 in France. The release of a third single was based entirely on the success of the band in countries such as France, Spain and other European countries, as the band's singles were doing particularly poorly in their native United Kingdom. The third single, " Alone with You ", saw Texas return to the UK Singles Charts Top 40 (for the first time since their debut single three years earlier), peaking at #32. The single also continued the success of the band in France, reaching #28. The fourth and final single, a remix of the title track "Mothers Heaven" was released in 1992, but failed to chart in any countries. Ironically, after the disappointing performance of singles from the album, the band then released a new cover version of the Al Green classic "Tired of Being Alone", which returned them to the UK Top 20. The track was not available on any album until the band's Greatest Hits album released in 2000. Mothers Heaven is the band's lowest charting album in the UK where it remains uncertified, however, it has been certified Gold in both France and Switzerland. Tras la edición de este disco, el dúo se trasladó a Nueva York, donde se les añadieron David Yarritu y Eden (Fiona Russell-Powell) al grupo, sólo para los efectos visuales, sin tocar ningún instrumento ni cantar. A principios de 1985 se publicó el brillante y pegadizo single Be near me, que subió hasta el puesto 26 de las listas británicas. Debido al éxito del single, How to be a...millionaire! consiguió entrar en el Top 30 tanto en Reino Unido como en Estados Unidos. Be near me se publicó a finales de 1985 en Estados Unidos, convirtiéndose en el primer Top 10 del grupo en este país. An album of cover versions of songs dear to Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, Neon Lights, was released in 2001, followed by Cry in 2002, an album of new compositions recorded in Glasgow and Sicily. The recordings for Black and White 050505 were completed on the 5th May 2005, hence the title. This album and Neon Lights and Cry make their first appearances on vinyl in this box set, with specially-created outer and inner sleeves, and include some exclusive bonus tracks from the CD releases. Graffiti Soul continued the band's return to the top, charting at # 10 in May 2009. Big Music was released in October 2014, charting at #12.
