Expressionism is another Art Style that I love to paint in. So combining Abstraction and Expressionism is simply the next logical step for me that I sometimes employ to allow these two styles to shine together, as well as amplify each other in the same work. As an artist I understand very well that art is a personal choice. However as a new artist to Etsy and one who is used to working with Limited Edition Giclee Prints, I ‘m frankly shocked to see that there are a number of shops labelling canvas prints as hand painted work. Why the attempt to mislead ?. Giclee prints when done correctly can be a very pleasing and worthwhile purchase. Giclees allow art to be more affordable. Even Museums, and many very successful and well known artists use Giclee prints. The biggest drawback to prints is the inability to have real texture on the printed surface. However this can be partially mitigated with some types of printing that offer hand applied varnish (sealant) to the print, or the artis can hand finish the printed surface. The difference is in the quality of the materials used, the experience and professionalism of the printers, and especially whether or not those printers are used to printing high end art work. I suspect that the buyers expectations are also very much a part of how art is listed. Quality archival professional materials for creating paintings and other art, are usually quite costly. It is therefore unrealistic to expect that art being offered at rock bottom prices, were created with the best materials and that such art was created meticulously by hand. This painting here is offered as Giclee prints on various supports eg canvas polished acrylic sheets, paper and metals.
