Great Balls of Fire! is a 1989 American biographical film directed by Jim McBride and starring Dennis Quaid as rockabilly pioneer Jerry Lee Lewis. Based on a biography by Myra Lewis and Murray M. Silver, Jr., the screenplay is written by McBride and Jack Baran. The film is produced by Adam Fields, with executive producers credited as Michael Grais, Mark Victor, and Art Levinson. The early career of Jerry Lee Lewis, from his rise to rock and roll stardom to his controversial marriage to his 13-year-old cousin that led to his downfall, is depicted in the film. Until the scandal of the marriage depreciated his image, many had thought Lewis would supplant Elvis Presley as the "King of Rock and Roll" in the 1950s. The story was co-written by Myra Gail Lewis (her autobiography Great Balls of Fire!), the former wife of Jerry Lee Lewis, with Murray Silver. Despite this, co-writer Silver was upset by the lack of accuracy in the film, claiming it was "phoney". Director Jim McBride admitted that it was never his intention to tie his film to the facts, and stated "This movie does not represent itself in any way to be a historical documentary. We use the book as a jumping-off point." Lewis has openly stated that he hates the film and the book it was based on. Lewis did, however, praise Quaid's portrayal of him in the film, saying "he really pulled it off".Quaid even learned to play "Lewis-style" piano for the role. This was the final film of character actor Trey Wilson. He died at age forty from a cerebral hemorrhage in January 1989, prior to the film's release. An original motion picture soundtrack was released by the producers on the Polydor Records label on June 8, 1989. Lewis re-recorded his music from the 1950s for the soundtrack with the title track " Great Balls of Fire," "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and "That Lucky Old Sun." The soundtrack contains 12 tracks. A music video of the song "Great Balls of Fire", with Quaid and Lewis playing the piano and containing snippets of scenes from the film, was featured on the original VHS video release preceding the film. "Lewis Boogie" is also in the film during the closing credits but does not appear on the soundtrack album.

It was released in May 1987 to document their successful worldwide Once Upon a Time tour, and charted at No. 1 in the UK. The album spawned one chart single release, a live version of "Promised You a Miracle". The album was recorded mostly at Le Zénith, Paris in August 1986, with one track recorded in October 1986 in Sydney, Australia. (Although the album was not recorded there, the inside of the gatefold sleeve features a photograph of a concert from the 1986 tour which took place in a square in Locarno, Switzerland). It features the band's 1986 touring lineup, which included second vocalist Robin Clark and percussionist Sue Hadjopoulos. Lisa Germano (at the time, a John Mellencamp band member who would perform on Simple Minds' next studio single, Belfast Child), contributed studio-overdubbed violin on "Someone Somewhere in Summertime" and former Simple Minds member Derek Forbes contributed  bass guitar overdubs. Live In The City Of Light was released as a double vinyl album with the band's logo in gold lettering over black sleeve. The package featured a 12" x 12" attached giant-sized booklet with state-of-the-art photography of the band's performance and outdoor session pictures. World in My Eyes fue el tema que cerró la promoción del álbum Violator. La carátula de "World in My Eyes" tiene la silueta de alguien haciendo con las manos un forma similar a la de unas gafas. El tema está apoyado en una base electrónica principal sostenida ejecutada por Alan Wilder, como era su costumbre de sonido grave y sobre la cual se conduce toda la función, agregando una serie de notaciones semi-graves siempre de sintetizador y efectos igualmente sólo electrónicos, aderezado con una sugerente letra sobre amor con una cínica proclama a “Mostrar el Mundo en mis Ojos”; un modo de decir el mundo de DM que para ese momento ya gozaba de un considerable éxito. Aunque en apariencia es un tema fácil y quizás hasta efectista, sólo puede ejecutarse con tres sintetizadores pues supone dos bases electrónicas, una disuelta sobre la otra, así como una tercera en los puentes, con lo cual de nuevo cada integrante del grupo adquiría protagonismo en su teclado, mientras la letra no fue muy profunda ni excesivamente pretenciosa. En conjunto de todos sus elementos era un tema un tanto retrospectivo, especialmente considerando la época en que se hizo cuando la música integralmente electrónica estaba ya relegada, incluso por DM que cada vez incorporaba mas cuerdas, sin embargo las bases electrónicas con que está construido son graves otorgándole un cierto sonido pesaroso y oscuro como habían practicado en álbumes anteriores y con lo cual World in My Eyes se convertía en un suave ejercicio de Dark Wave rítmico destinado especialmente a las pistas de baile. Andrew Fletcher de DM ha declarado que éste es su tema favorito de la banda. El sencillo contiene dos lados B, haciendo de Violator el único disco de Depeche Mode cuyos cuatro sencillos tienen al menos un lado B, los de World in My Eyes fueron los temas Happiest Girl y Sea of Sin también de Gore, y de hecho en portada el título del disco sencillo es World in My Eyes / Happiest Girl / Sea of Sin. El tema "Happiest Girl" aparece en su versión Jack Mix y "Sea of Sin" en su versión Tonal Mix, las cuales son las versiones estándar. Versiones "regulares" no hubo, más bien éstas fueron las versiones regulares de acuerdo a las entrevistas y al propio sitio oficial de la banda. "Martin did the demo on his own," recalled Andy Fletcher. "I don't remember it standing out when we heard it then. But somehow, in the studio, it all came together brilliantly… Whenever I'm asked which of our tracks is my favourite, I always say 'World In My Eyes'." The cover art for "World in My Eyes" has a photo of one of the band members making a shape similar to that of glasses with their hands. On the Limited 12", there are pictures of all four members. "World in My Eyes" has two exclusive B-sides, making Violator the only Depeche Mode album with all four singles having at least one exclusive B-Side, including instrumentals. The B-sides for " World in My Eyes " are " Happiest Girl " and " Sea of Sin ". "Happiest Girl (Jack Mix)" and "Sea of Sin (Tonal Mix)" are the main 7" versions. "Original" versions were never released, or rather, these mixes are the regular versions, according to interviews and the official website. Reaching No.17 in UK, and only No.52 on the Hot 100, it is the least successful single from Violator. The 2004 re-release of the EU single includes a longer-intro version of "World in My Eyes (Oil Tank Mix)".

Postales y despedidas para el disco del adiós: canciones sobre los papelones de aspirar papeles en discotecas, sobre la vejez de los propios padres y la novedad del propio matrimonio, sobre cumplir los 29 y sentir “que todo lo que hay que hacer es arrastrarse” para entrar en caja y en molde, de sentirse como Sean Penn (circa Madonna) sin serlo, de hacer el amor antes del divorcio, de llamar por teléfono al amigo de la infancia y encontrarlo y que nos cuelgue, de sentirse un insatisfecho en los tiempos de la nueva y gran peste, y de descubrir que para volver a empezar primero hay que sentirse acabado. Pocas veces alguien fue más felizmente triste.   Mainstream is the third and final studio album released by Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. It was produced by Ian Stanley and released by Capitol Records in the US and Polydor in the UK on 26 October 1987. It contained the hits " From the Hip ", " My Bag ", and " Jennifer She Said ". Although the album reached number nine in the UK, it failed to chart in America and was not embraced by all critics: Mainstream is the only Lloyd Cole and the Commotions release not to sell at least 100,000 copies in the US. The album took two years to make as finding a producer proved difficult. The band first went with Chris Thomas, when that did not work out they brought in Stewart Copeland. With Copeland they only recorded one track, " Hey Rusty ", then finally found Ian Stanley. Donegan reflected in 2004 that "with the previous LP, Easy Pieces, we had tried to broaden out and make more of a pop record and it hadn't really worked. It sounded rushed and the songs were not all up to standard. So, a year after Easy Pieces, we went into the studio to try and make something more powerful. But the LP that we actually made took so long that we lost our initial vision by the time we finished it. The songs that Lloyd was writing were more introspective, so the stadium rock idea gradually went out the window." Kings of the Wild Frontier is the second album by English new wave band Adam and the Ants. It was released in November 1980 by record label CBS. This album introduced the "Burundi beat" sound to popular music. Kings of the Wild Frontier was released on 3 November 1980 by record label CBS in the UK and Epic records internationally. It reached No. 1 in the UK Album Chart, and spawned three hit singles: "Kings of the Wild Frontier", which was released in July and reached No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart; "Dog Eat Dog", which reached No. 4; and 'Antmusic', released in December and reaching No. 2, as well as No. 1 in Australia for five weeks. The album was the UK number 1 selling album in 1981 (and the 48th best seller in 1980) and won Best British Album at the 1982 Brit Awards. The US version of the album dropped "Making History" in favour of two tracks penned by Ant prior to teaming up with Marco Pirroni, "(You're So) Physical" and "Press Darlings". La edición en cassette fue doble, ya que contenía el resto de caras B y se tituló Curiosity (Killing the Cat): Cure Anomalies 1977–1984. El disco es el resultado de las grabaciones de los conciertos que dio la banda en el actual Hammersmith Apollo de Londres y en Oxford en mayo de 1984. La portada fue diseñada por el mismo Robert Smith, bajo el seudónimo de Toberr, con un fotograma de vídeo de una emisión de televisión en directo el 25 de agosto de 1984 durante el concierto que The Cure ofrecieron en el Barrowland Ballroom situado en Glasgow, Escocia y que tenía la intención de que ilustrase un disco pirata de la banda. Además, la inclusión de " Charlotte sometimes " permitió conocer más ampliamente una de las rarezas inéditas publicadas en formato single de The Cure. Del frío y experimental "Seventeen seconds" se recogería " A forest " en una psicodélica versión que se convertiría a posteriori en la joya del siniestro afterpunk. Finalmente, para cerrar este álbum " 10:15 Saturday night " y " Killing an arab ", los dos temas de su primer single con aquel primerizo powerpop característico. En definitiva, en "Concert - The Cure Live" se recogían las mayores virtudes del primer y más interesante período de una de las bandas más exitosas de la década de los 80. The album was a Top 10 hit in the UK, and was their first studio album to break the Billboard 200 in the US, reaching number 180. Melody Maker praised the album as "psychedelia that can't be dated", while pondering, "I've yet to meet anyone who can tell me why the Cure are having hits now of all times." The Cure then embarked on their worldwide Top Tour with Thompson, Anderson and producer-turned-bassist Phil Thornalley on board. Released in late 1984, The Cure's first live album, Concert consisted of performances from this tour. Near the tour's end, Anderson was fired for destroying a hotel room and was replaced by Boris Williams. Thornalley also left because of the stress of touring. However, the bassist slot was not vacant long, for a Cure roadie named Gary Biddles had brokered a reunion between Smith and former bassist Simon Gallup, who had been playing in the band Fools Dance. Soon after reconciling, Smith asked Gallup to rejoin the band. Concert: The Cure Live is the first live album of English rock band The Cure. It was recorded in 1984 at the Hammersmith Odeon in London and in Oxford. Its cassette tape edition featured on the B-side a twin album of anomalies, titled Curiosity (Killing the Cat): Cure Anomalies 1977–1984.

Dandy in the Underworld was the twelfth and final studio album by T. Rex and was released in March 1977. It reached #26 in the UK charts, the band's highest-charting album since 1974's Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow. The title track was released as a single but failed to chart, though I Love to Boogie and The Soul of My Suit achieved chart placing in the UK. Dandy in the Underworld was regarded by many T. Rex fans as a comeback for the band. However, it would prove to be the band's final album, as Marc Bolan died in a car crash in September 1977. The album was praised for the strength of the songwriting and Bolan's vocal performances.
